Default 2015 C7 Upgrades???

What will Chevy do differently on the 2015? I'm thinking about getting a first year C7 but I hear people saying they want to wait till the second year! What will be different on the 2nd year C7?

Thanks guys!

How about perfecting and delivering the '14s before they even consider developing the '15s.

Everything is speculative at this point...just as it is speculative that you will be among the living so you can enjoy driving a new C7 in a year. I'm all for buying one as soon as possible if it's something you want and can afford.

Engine Stop - Start...

Imagine how many people will rush out to buy a 2014 if that happened?

Hoping to see Blind Spot System

Enjoying the C7 every day... no **** retentive complaints over minor issues here.

I wouldn't be surprised if some items from the 2LT (such as HUD?) perhaps become standard and the 2LT price decreases... but then again I wouldn't be surprised if options like the Z51 package increase in price. Who knows, we'll see next year...

Probably tweak the dim issue or have it fixed. Maybe some other bland boring color, some options maybe some add ons. Nothing major. I'm thinking the targa hatch ajar option would be nice and a final welcome. If a 80's Nissan Maxima can tell me my door is ajar I'm sure we could to do the same with the targa on a 50K plus sports car at a very cheap cost. I'm sure we have the technology by now...

My 2014 came with a Blind Spot System. It's called "side view mirrors" and they work surprisingly well!

JK...I know what you mean.

But the mirrors do the job if you adjust them correctly.

Doesn't a 2014 Corvette Stingray tell you if a door is ajar? Just call the Targa the 3rd door and you're good to go!!! Wait, the Targa is designed to be "open" sometimes when in motion whereas the door isn't. Gotta be a little more complicated but certainly doable.

Put some extra $ away because you can bank on the Z51 going up a couple-three K.

They have now seen what a bargain it is recognized to be at $2,800.00.

Yes but doesn't tell you if the targa is latched or not. Same concept as seatbelts. If the targa latch isn't in it's closed position then you would get targa ajar so you won't have the thing flying off. I'm sure there is a way they can detect if it's unlatched and get a warning vs it actually off and no warning. Like I said we have the technology...Cost is cheap for some sensors..

Me personally I have almost been part of the FRC(flying roof club) but caught it in time. I just hear a lot of people wanting it that's why I brought it up. Figure the car has so many damn safety features and gizmos why not something that's actually very useful?

I agree. The times I have taken mine off in my 1985, 2007 and now 2011 I have never forgotten BUT I have never been seriously distracted during that critical moment that occurs after putting it back in place and turning the front levers. It has happened enough to others, though, to where there should be a warning system in place.

This would be my wish list for 2015, in no particular order:
  • MSRC and Z51-style wheels as stand alone options (or z51 rear spoiler delete)
  • An edgy color like bright orange or purple
  • All 3LT colors applied on the dash like gray and red are currently
  • A symmetric base wheel
  • Comp gray wheel finish option
  • 2nd color for seat inserts
  • Improve paint and fitment of body panels
  • Faster refresh rate on digital dash gauges (it doesn't look 100% smooth in videos but it should be easy to make it 60 hz)

Wish list for next year..
Atomic Orange offered again.
Option to get body colored lower rear valance.
Metal mesh vent inserts like Racemesh offers from factory in various finishes like black chrome, etc.
Another 20 to 40hp offered in base models. Should be easy enough . Bit hotter tune factory. Maybe factory cold air system option.
Maybe some more rear end ratio choices.
Factory option possibly for carbon fiber rear spoiler.
PDK transmission option with possibly more speeds than present transmission.

My guess is that it's more of a liability issue than anything else. Sure the technology exists to develop a latch with a sensor but it wouldn't be infallible. If they provide a sensor for the roof and the latch switch/sensor fails, GM would be liable or at the very least would have to legally defend themselves should the driver fail to latch the roof and it flies off. The first thing many drivers would say is that the warning light didn't come on even if it did.

While it is a great idea, the implications could be very serious. If you think about it, most cars these days tell you if the trunk or a door is ajar but how many tell you if the hood is? A door isn't going to fly off nor is a trunk lid so the liability is negligable. A hood or a roof on the other hand has serious implications should it fly off and a switch that isn't going to last forever would be a potential liability nightmare. Then there is the issue or costs of developing a locking latch with a discreet sensor built in. I don't see a typical spring loaded hood or door switch being a worthy solution for a latch.

I tend to agree but there might be some changes in option packages (like MRC withouth Z51) and/or colors... but nothing signficant.
