After hours of inspection and careful analysis, by new C7 - Vin 7683 is damned near perfect. The amount of orange peel is very minimal. Less than my neighbor's new Ferrari California or another neighbor's new M5. The fit and finish are spot on. The rear deck is easy to close. Car is tight, no rattles, all electronics work as expected. Frankly, I was surprised. My first thought was I just wasn't looking closely enough. Wrong. The more I look the better it gets.
Aaron I wouldn't say the C7 has a waiting list, people were just "waiting" for the new car to arrive, they are everywhere to be had right now. As for the lack of prep with their vendors, well only GM can be blamed for not being preparred for the launch which is why the Z51 package is tough right now.
I won't get into the Acura comparison b/c there isn't one.
I'm on my second generation Acura (TL) and I've seen only two c7's (not counting the one in the auto show) up close. IMO the C7's top my current TL in interior fitment.

Correct me if I'm wrong…doesn't NCRS judge factory flaws on vintage vettes such as overspray or a flaw such as orange peel as a good thing? It's just character. Corvettes rule!
My only issue - and it's minor - is that with the sun directly on the dashboard (I have a 3LT Kalahari) the dash is bumpy and you can see the cutout for the passenger airbag. Only when the sun is on it though...

How about the gap between the back of the targa top and the body - is it the same width on the driver's side compared to the passenger's side? All the ones I have seen so far have a wider gap on the drivers side.
The other thing I have seen is the rear facia fit at the wheel opening having a step (not a smooth arch).
Here's the rear quarters of a Corvette that someone took delivery of today (very good fit and finish)
The second picture shows the overly long rear fascia which creates a "step" into the wheel well opening. This has been on many, many C7s. I don't think too many Acuras have that problem (though I could be wrong).
The panel below the bottom on the door is not aligned as well as it could be. It sticks out beyond the bottom of the door slightly.
Mine too... but driver side only. Not a deal breaker to me. So close to the ground that no one will likely notice it. Everything else is pretty impressive.
