Default $30K Markup Wow!

Just went in to my local dealer for the first time to fix the dim screen issues on C7. Walked into the showroom to see if they had gotten any C7s in yet. They had a special edition on the floor. MSRP $75K with a $30K markup totaling $105K. Could not believe it.

I am not one that says all dealers should sell at MSRP or below. Just glad I was able to purchase at MSRP.

I didn't even have to look at your profile information to know that you were in California. $30K markup spells California.

Hell, I'd put 50K markup on the car if someone would pay it....the price on the floor means nothing, it's what it transacts for, that matters....

Gee, the people in California need to learn about this forum. No need to pay this markup, with all the forum dealers here.

Funny to read these threads when this is such a capitalist forum. Gimme a break, guys. Can't blame a dealer for tryin' can ya?

I mean, there is a sucker born every day. It's just that most of them buy Porsches!

I live in Cali and this state sucks as far as laws and government and all that go.

Personally, I'd rather just buy the car out of state and bring it back to Cali. If you can get it at MSRP or below, why not?

Hey, we have a forum dealer right here in California.

Lol, I'm just a novice here on this forum. How does one find all the local dealers and such? Would be nice to know for the future. If I can someday get a good deal in-state, I'll do that.

The only CA forum dealer I know of is Boardwalk in Redwood City. (Bay Area).

My C7 is the third Corvette bought outside CA. Same reason, no way to get a deal here.

CA still gets the sales tax and registration fee, so no guilt there. Only the CA dealers are missing out.

Must be a west coast thing. I'm in Oregon and have always been horrified by the "Market Adjustments" of $10K to $30K at my local dealer. I actually felt outraged at the nerve of these people. Now, this local dealer no longer stocks Corvettes, so I can't even go see a C7 in person.

Bought mine from Boardwalk. Tim Boone is highly recommended.

OP: let us know if the dealer can do anything about the "dim screen" issue.

What I don't understand is the "outraged" feeling. My local dealer is a good guy and sold me my 13 camaro. I really like them. When I asked about a vette last summer, they said they would be going at 10K over. I said to my sales guy "good for you, I hope you get it"...and I meant it. They just were not going to get it from me. My sales guy understood that, and asked me to bring mine by when I got it from someone else. No harm done, I stopped by the other day. Had a crowd around the car.

Dealers can do whatever they want. I personally don't think that makes them bad people. Unlike the enthusiasts here, the Vette is hot enuf to bring in a few "gotta have it" types that will pay it. Simple as that....

The phenomenon will all be over soon......

Jeez, I thought Oregon would be better than that. BS.

So I wonder what state that's not too far from Cali gives the best deals? (Or is it more of a dealer-by-dealer basis?) No way in hell I'll ever pay that much over MSRP.

Personally, I wouldn't even pay MSRP for the car (mostly because I'm not wealthy ). $30k over MSRP? You gotta be out of your mind...

Okay, in keeping with this theme, I'll sell my vette for 180k. I'll let you guys know if I have any takers. No tire kickers, please.
