Default Shut Down Sequence

Ordered my C7 two weeks ago. Could not wait to know more about the car so I downloaded the Owner's Manual.
The manual says to do this when shutting down the car:

Parking (Manual Transmission)
Before exiting the vehicle, move the shift lever into 1 (First) or R (Reverse), and apply the parking brake. Once the shift lever has been
placed into 1 (First) or R (Reverse) with the clutch pedal pressed in,
turn the ignition off and release the clutch.

I have a C6 Manual transmission and I am used to moving the shift lever to neutral, setting the parking brake, turning the ignition off and then moving the shift lever to first or reverse.

If I don't follow the recommended C7 sequence, will it create a problem with the car?

C7 manual states correct order.
I believe TR6060 (2008+ C6 and now C7) have reverse lockout solenoid. The engine must be running and car stopped before one can shift to reverse.
It is not a good practice to shift gears while engine off anyway.

Well, now hearing that GM has stopped most productions of the 2014 especially the Z51 package to a year now, I will cancel my order and order a Beemer M5.
No sense waiting for a care that will not be here until 2015.....:worthl essnopics:

I didn't read the manual about that. But interestingly enough, I felt that's exactly how it should be done and what makes the most sense.

I put the car in reverse (if I didn't reverse in, though I normally do), engage the parking brake, hit the engine start/stop button, wait for the engine to come to a stop and THEN release the clutch.

You heard completely wrong. I have an order with Z51, FAY, C2Z (all items on constraint) that is being accepted by Chevy this consensus with a January build date.

The method in the Owners Manual is how I was taught to shut odd a manual Trans equipped car in 1961. I've used it ever since. I wouldn't worry about it.

Ouch my wife has a 550 2012 and I had a 6 series. You won't be happy unless you only like to go straight! They are FAT pigs and don't turn well at all. Id suggest you drive the M5 quite a bit first. I could see getting a Porsche or even the new Jag, but an M5 over a sports car, no thanks.

Default power on mode

This was supposed to be a new post but I guess I will just let it here.

If I power down in sport mode it powers on in sport mode. If I power down in any other mode it powers on in tour mode.

Is that normal ?? Seems odd.
