Both cars had winter tires on them. The TA is outfitted with Blizzaks, and the vette has Pirelli Sottozeros. After the first couple of comparisons, I don't even take the TA out anymore unless I need a 3rd seat.

First snow:
How do you like the Sottozero's ?? I've read mixed reviews, but for the size combination, its very limited.

Tire size for the snows, why not go with skinny tires, 255/40 R19 rear and 225/45 R18 fronts?

This would be better in the snow, and those sizes maintain the same ratio front to rear 1" / 4%

(How much better in snow, not sure, but would assume since the purpose of dedicated snow tires is snow winter performance, the skinny would be a improvement? What are your thoughts on width??? )

The Michelin Pilot Alpin PA4s beat the Sotozero IIIs....

the ORIGINAL Sotozeros (aka the soto 1's) are whats avail on the c7 vette....

based on this the alpin pa4s are clear winner for the vette.

See test here pa4 vs soto III

http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tests/...y.jsp?ttid=181

Tirerack won't have the pa4 until next winter since its new...

but my local tire shop can get them now (my car is not here yet), but after reading reviews and reviews, and everything... pa4 is the best snow tire that is out for sports vehicles.

If the soto III lost to pa4, I can't imagine the soto I vs pa4...

Thank you so much for your help.
TireRack.com said something about getting the Sottozeros in Jan 31 I think. They were out of them for a while and then got a few more in. I ordered mine end of Dec and when I placed the order it said they had fewer than three in stock for the rears so looks like I got the last ones.

The cost was $286 ea for the fronts and $436 ea for the rears and $70 shipping. It had a $50 gift card rebate so net was $1,463.

I've found the stock tires terrible on any type of ice/slush. Rightfully so, they are summer UHP tires.

I've driven it on clean roads with colder conditions/water, but when it hits ice or slush the back was coming out and the car just skid.
