Default Climate control

Does anybody feel that cabin temperature is difficult to maintain and fan is excessively noisy? My 2005 C6 Z51 that I still own is more comfortable and quieter.

Yes,My car was also updated since new with the "Dim Dash At Dusk" 4 module update. Chevrolet claims this update was to fix the hvac hunting for temperature comfort problem too??? Iuse the car as a DD and I am in & out of it all day long, and I agree the c7 has a current problem adjusting interior comfort as the current controller is working.

Has this resolved the problem with the hvac hunting for proper temperature?

My other issue in the manual transmission is the easy exit seat returning to driving position when the door is opened. In my opinion a complete design error. Again my C6 does not operate this way.

You can turn this off, get in the car with the seat in the exit position and push your memory button to return to the drive position.

Yes I am aware of that option but it defeats the convience of having this feature. Do you have the automatic or manual transmission?

Yep. The outside temp indicator is pretty wacky too. It was reading 81 degrees this AM driving to work... and it's "only" 73 right now ;-)

My Dealer just called me today about the update. I am sure it was because I called after reading your post. Thanks for your help. I will let you know if it resolves my problem with the hvac.

Or you could program the seat etc not to change till you start it. Works great for me.

This can only be done if you have the automatic transmission. There appears to be a safety issue with the manual transmission which is why the seat moves when the door is opened. If you were able to reprogram the 7 speed, then please let me know how it was done. My dealer is unaware of how to do this. Thanks

Didn't know that but now that I think about it. The seat moving with foot on the clutch could be a problem.

VIN 8500, delivered in Dec with the updated software, and we don't seem to be having the problem.

I noticed my fan is a bit noisy also . I thought I was being a little OCD about it . Definitely searches for inside temp. for a bit but doesn't bother me that much . My build date was 10-28 so I am due for an update but I will wait for my first oil change . I am sure by then there will be another update or two . The dim dash does not bother me that much and I am sure I will get used to the fan if the update does not quiet it down . Good luck .....

Fan is quiet for me except when it's on feet only, then that thing really gets noisy. Temp is no problem for mine, but I'm post-software update.

BTW , when I say the fan is a bit noisy , I really mean a bit . I would say the average person would not notice it at all but we are a bit different here , aren't we ? Let's just say we are very attuned to our vehicle .....

RE: fan noise:

In your Settings Menu on the Infotainment screen, you will find the following...

Climate and Air Quality

Select and the following may be displayed:
. Auto Fan Max Speed
. Auto Defog

Auto Fan Max Speed
This feature will set the maximum auto fan speed.
Select Low, Medium, or High.

If you set the Auto Max Fan Speed at "LOW" you'll never hear your fan.

Even set in the low position, the system is working too hard trying to find correct temperature. I have a very early production #316. This car has a number of issues. My ears are sensitive to annoying sounds. It's like being in the operating room with the suction unclamped. After nine years, I never got tired driving my 2005 C6. I hope in a year I feel the same about my new C7.

When did the factory start doing software updates prior to the deliveries? My vert was built 11/18 vin 7586. I don't seem to be having some of these problems but being up North I really have not had the chance to put much mileage on her. I may not have been in her long enough to experience the problems.

First I have VIN 92xx built 12/5/13, so my car should be post update. I would not say the climate control hunts, but it does sometimes seem off. I have not calibrated with a thermometer inside the car so it could just be differences in the operators internal temp.
When it feels too cold I turn it up a few degrees and when it feels to warm I turn it down. Seems to work as well as any other Chevrolet I have owned.

As for noises I can hear the AC compressor when the car is stopped and idling. At first I thought it was fan or perhaps injector noise. I isolated it to the HVAC by turning the system off then to the AC compressor. I know it is the compressor because the sound stops if I push the AC off button and comes back when I push the Auto button. Not a big deal, but enough that I will monitor it and check some other C7s to see if the noise level is normal.

So what I'm getting out of this thread is that GM needs to do something about climate change in the C7?
