I am a convert. I have always and still am a 911 lover but my dad has always been a Corvette guy. He had a '74 that we built a motor for and put a 5-speed in and did suspension on and it was fun and then he had an '88 with the 4+3 and the truck motor then my mother bought him an '07 Z51 for his 64th birthday. I had driven it on several occasions and liked it but never really fell in love with it. It was pretty much a garage queen and my dad decided to sell it last summer and he made me a deal I couldn't refuse, I guess so he could 'borrow' it on occasion. It is now my daily commuter and that is what it took for me to fall in love with Corvettes, just driving it day in and day out.

The only vette I have ever been attracted to enough to spend this kind of money for a car is the new C7 Stingray. So much that I have to have it.

It's sexy, exotic looking, semi-affordable, excellent acceleration and handling/braking performance, interior is very nice and attractive and feels luxurious.

The C7 is everything that every other generation of Corvette was not for me, minus the performance, which I can find elsewhere. What I can't find elsewhere is the looks AND the performance at the same time at an affordable price range.

Only thing I wish were different about the car in general would be that it had an 8500rpm redline, but there are tons of tradeoffs to get something like that. Cost, packaging, fuel economy, etc.

The corvette has never appealed to me, even as a child I have always been a mustang fan. But I read an article regarding the money that GM put into the assembly plant at Bowling Green KY in addition to the new design of the corvette. When I saw my first photo this time last year, it was love at first site. Then I saw the interior, at that point I made up my mind that I would take a leap of faith and buy one. There are very few GM products (exception – Cadillac) I would buy other than the stingray due to the interior design alone.
The first new car I ever purchased was a Saturn. That decision was made largely due documentation indicating that 70% of the entire vehicle was designed, manufactured and assembled in the US. I’m not sure what percentage the stingray falls in these areas but based on my research it appears to be significant. America is the only country in the entire world that at one time possessed a fleet of Space Shuttles. I’d like to believe that we can still do it – make a great car.
After all the test drives (C6); dealer visits, sitting in the C7 and in rare cases even starting some, viewing every internet video, website and magazine I could find, and some cases losing a purchase because I didn’t act fast enough, I finally placed an order yesterday. I have been driving a Lexus for the past 11 years so I wanted to make sure I knew what I was getting into. I wanted to make sure my expectations were properly established regarding a sports car verses a luxury vehicle.
It’s been quite a journey and it’s not even here yet.

An American Dream! Always thought they were out of this world since I was a kid. In my opinion, nothing else American made could come close. Certain things about it represent what is good about America to me. The automobile is a huge part of American history, and the Corvette is as good as it gets!

I don't love Corvette, but I ordered a C7 because everything I can find to read about it raves about it, even in comparison to some exotics. I love Porsche 911's, and own 2 of them, and I am hoping I love the C7, but the history of the Corvette is actually a turn-off to me. The C7 is the only one I'd ever even looked twice at.

Loved 'em as a kid and always wanted one. The acceleration, speed, handling, looks, comfort, and overall American goodness plus a lifetime of wanting to have one made it the obvious choice when I was finally ready to buy my first one 10 years ago.

The first sports car that I can remember was the Mustang, which debuted when I was four years old. I loved the Mustang until Ford shrank it and made it a lady's car. Then when they went back to the original design a few years back, I again regained my love of the 'Stang. I even considered getting one this year but know they were changing the design in '15 which I think is horribly ugly, so it was a C7 for me.

In middle school, I had a single teacher who drove a 1972 Corvette. We all thought he and his car were so cool. But this was not my introduction to Corvettes. For me it was the astronauts of the Apollo program who all (at least to my elementary school mind) raced Corvettes. They were pioneers, risk takers, adventurers, test pilots and overall winners. How could anyone who loved the good attributes for what America stands not have a fondness for Corvette?

Porsches never did anything for me. For me, it is the car that Jimmy Dean and, recently, Paul Walker died in. The design is quite boring and has not evolved much (Porsche fans would say classic). After working over 15 years for a German company and hearing all the negative things about Corvette, I am so pleased that Chevy upgraded the C7 to make a world class car.

We may not have a spaceship to go into space anymore, but hopefully we can make a decent car still. Corvette is a representation of America to me.

Oh, almost forgot, my C7 is a blast to drive.....

Our family went from 0 Corvettes, ever, to 2 Corvettes (a C6 and a C7) since August of 2013. Aside from the old Chevy Dually's that have always pulled the large horse trailers, the two drivers in this household have driven nothing but foreign cars for decades.

I personally have (had) never "loved" a car. Ever. They're practical. They get you places. They can be comfortable or not so much, fast or strong, or boring, or whatever. That is, until I drove the C6 we bought for my better half. And, smart me, after finding out after buying the C6 there was this awesome C7 coming that would get an even more excited reception, I made that happen. And ... HA, I have the C6! And now you couldn't pry it from my cold, clamped hands.

They are two completely different beasts (C6 and C7), but produce for me, the same response. They're really just other worldly. They hug the road, and roar, and glide, and thrill, and just kick @$$. Never in decades of long commutes have I ever looked forward to getting up and driving in the morning, and now I do. Not only do I look forward to my commutes, but first thing I do on weekend mornings is grab a cup of coffee and my keys, and wind through the hills for about an hour, then get on with my day.

Not a ride goes by when we're in either of the vettes, that we don't get a wave or thumbs up from someone - from in other vettes, or work trucks, or folks crossing the street. In both cars - not just the C7. People light up when they see them. It's really something.

Sounds like you prefer driving the C6 over the C7. Please elaborate.

I PM'd you a response Red Racer, because:

a. I don't want to hijack this thread, and
b. Answering would be "suicide by C7 forum members"!

Corvette history is a turnoff to you? Well ain't that a cryin shame! Maybe you should stick with your (2) 911s, you might catch a disease while slumming it with us Corvette guys. I've met one or two Porsche guys that I could stomach for more than about 5 minutes. What is it with you Porsche lovers? Lose the attitude!

European and Asian exotic cars sound like motorcycles.

Nuff said.

Because they are bad-azz.

And the fact that they are relatively affordable.

For me - I love that Corvettes were once driven by astronauts - the ultimate explorers and adventurers into the unknown.

What are your thoughts?
Not quite sure. I've had some Performance Cars and a couple of MBZ Convertibles. I owned one other Vette, a C4 Convertible that was really nothing special. My old 911 Porsche was a Sports Car, the C4 was fun being a Convertible, but it was a gutless wonder IMHO.

Three months ago I had no intention of buying a C7. I was actually looking at a MBZ SL550. Then I decided to see what all the fuss was about so I went to the local Chevy Dealer to have a look see. As soon as I sat in the Car, I was a Corvette guy all over again.

I finally got my new C7 home a week ago. Haven't had any time to check out all the Gizmos, but I will have plenty of time to do so. The C7 is a keeper, a "giant leap" in Astronaut talk.

I'm not sure if it's Love, but for the time being Lust will do.
