Well guys, I was all ready and set to order me a new Torch Red Vert next month just in time for the summer and this Z06 thing came busting through the door!
It absolutely blows my mind how complete this car truly is! I never owned a Z primarily because you cant take the roof off it and enjoy the sun and wind...Hell there's nothing better than cruising on a hot summer evening with the wife listening to Hotel California on the speakers right?
But nooooo...The new Z06 will offer a removable roof option! Now the only reason why I never wanted one is no longer a problem! I cant shake how incredible and mean this car looks and now I'm torn! Should I stick to my original plan of a C7 convertible or do I go a full summer without a vette and order the Z06 next year for next summer?
Yeah but what about the wide body man? Man it totally looks different than the regular Stingray! I mean your right about the performance but the look dude!
Buy a non-Z, add a blower for a HELL of a lot less and be done with it
If pedigree is important, ship it to Callaway, have all the power you want and still have your vert. You will probably be at about the same $ as the Z06 but your documented Callaway will be worth a little more at resale...(I hope)

Thoughts?
If your heart says Z06 go with it if you go out and buy a C7 one day you'll be driving around and you'll see a Z06 and it'll drive you crazy not the a c7 is not a beautiful car because it is but it's not and never will be a wide bodied Z06 no matter what power adder you could put on it...I'm holding on to my ZR1 till the Z06's are out then I'll have one..good luck which ever way you go!!...

Wise words to live by. Get whichever one you want more, if that means waiting until next summer, then wait. If the Z06 is really what you want, you'll regret it once they hit the streets and you'll be asking yourself "why didn't I just wait?"
Z06s won't be out for a while still. So if you are willing to wait, then wait. But they will be a lot more expensive too.
As for resale, you will get more for the z06 then the base. However, you might make up the difference if you only spent 3k or so more for a blower than say around 15K or more for a z06.
As others have mentioned, sometimes you should wait for what you think you want.
I was thinking about it, but started to realize a few things:
Many dealers are already taking deposits to get in line for the Z06. Production is starting later and they estimate the first cars will be out in about 1 year, or "early 2015". If I were to jump in line now, would I get a car by next summer? Who knows. With the constraint issues on "standard" parts for my Z51 car, I could see more issues with the more exotic parts on the Z06.
Also, remember that the car we've seen all the pictures of is a Z06 with the Z07 package and we have no concrete numbers on how much that car will actually cost. I need to see the normal Z06 first and solid price information before I lose a year in my Z51.
I love my Corvettes, but paying $100k+ for a car that I will probably never use for serious track duty would be a shame. The Z51 + some power mods is all I will likely ever need.
The only concern I have on the Z51 car is the space for tire width. I feel like we may be very traction limited based on available tire and wheel sizes to fit inside the fenders.

Hard to believe that widebody kits won't be available at some point....

Oh, I know they will be available, but I never liked them on the C6. Probably because most of the time I would see them and instantly think "Something is wrong on that car!" and on second glance I would see ****-poor paint or fitment.
That said, I've probably seen far more than I realized due to them being done right. I'm just not the type to do that kind of mod, I usually keep appearance mods very low key. Maybe that will change though.
Designer Imagines A Corvette That Looks More Like a Corvette Than the Corvette
