It is a matter of trust. I would think a $5000 deposit indicates you have some reason to trust the dealer saying they have an allocation. You can't get more than that. Even if you go to one of the "super" Corvette dealers, leaving a deposit is a matter of trust.

Thursday the order can be entered and the following Tuesday the dealer will know if it is accepted (2000) and then you will have a better handle as to what might be happening.

My take: if your dealer says he has allocation than he does. But a $5000 deposit? If your order is for a C7-R that is a steal but as far as I know no C7-R can be delivered to a retail order customer; if not, and we know not, what was going through your head. For a Corvette a $1000 is adequate and a $500 is reasonable. Anything over $1000 is uncalled for but you seem to have done it and what is is what is.

Convertibles are are rolling off the line and as far as I know the crystal red is no longer (and not for some time) on constraint so the only possible hang up is the Z51 package. A 3LT order will be picked (providing the dealer has an allocation) before a 2LT or 1LT so it looks good for you.

California means rail and rail is less predictable but the time frames (about six weeks) the dealer is are reasonable even with rail as part of the shipping process.

Early orders can not be used as a benchmark for time. Even the August order may have gone in before production started and the C7 had a particularly slow ramp up to full production. Things are normal now so yes take the slot and let us know if I am eight or wrong.
