The CAGS isn't as a big of a nuisance as I thought it would be, but I am going to put an eliminator on there when the weather gets warmer anyway. They are cheap and they look easy to install.

I have one on our ZO6. Wouldn't leave home without it
Talked to them and another Forum vendor who listed the skp shift for the C7 for sale and removed it. They said found it tripped a computer code. I was told they were waiting for one that worked. Since the folks with Vipers (which has the same Tremic trans) say the skip shift does not work as it trips codes and has for several years, thought I’d wait and see if it works without that problem. Has anyone used either for enough time to see if there is no problem with the C7 computer?
Once you are going about 17-18mph, you can shift to 2nd without any problem.
Exactly! and for those rare occasions when you are not going above 20 mph before shifting to 2d and get this goofy message, just back off the throttle a bit, light goes out and shift to 2d...paying money to buy a lockout device is a waste imho....buy a case of beer instead!
With how unintrusive people are saying it is, and how easily people are beating the GM-stated economy, I would think that the C7 would have no problem avoiding the gas guzzler tax even without CAGS.

Agree, the C7 is far from being in the gas guzzler tax range! However under the government tests it apparently does help get another mpg or so and that does help GM’s average company mpg goals.
The problem is not seeing the indicator, it’s when you go to shift, albeit not often, being blocked when it was not expected. This usually occurs when in traffic and causes the car to hesitate and be slower than desired for a short time. As soon as I am confident the ship shift device works without tripping a code on the C7 I’ll install it.
