We recently drove to San Diego from Phx and back again. On a fifty mile stretch somewhere the car got 39.6 mpg. Quite amazing given the size and power of the engine in the Corvette.
I just picked up my car Monday from a dealer 255 miles away from my house. I set the trip odometer at the dealership and by the time I reached my house, I averaged 29.2 mpg. This was done going through a lot of stop and go city and town traffic, highway and interstate driving. I was playing with all the driving modes on the way home and using economy mode on the interstates. I could see this car easily exceeding 30+ mpg on a long interstate trip.
Not impressed. My 2006 automatic C6 got a little over 30 MPG on a 1600 mile round trip between Idaho & So Cal a couple of years ago. And that number was calculated from actual gas receipts not from the DIC. Speed was often above the posted limit through Nevada.
I am really impressed by the great mileage you can get when you are not "on it". Just driving with my M7 in 7th gear without eco on I get over 30MPH consistently.
This is an unbelievable car. Too bad it is currently in "hibernation".
Wouldn't get too worked up over that one. Coulda been a downhill stretch with the throttle all but fully closed.
Yeh I wasn't watching it during the trip, there is a section where you come down from the hills and into the Sonoran plain. I thought that could be where it upped from the 36 to 39, mind you i did that down hill part at 80 mph.
You averaged 15.1, you hit 39.6 at one point during the 50 miles, I could do that in a Ford Raptor, just take your foot off the gas.
15.1 IMO is REALLY Low, hopefully you were on it.
A high of 39.6 with a 15.1 average? If you averaged 15.1, what was your lowest MPG rating? I assume you were really on the throttle throughout this trip.

Your conclusion is incorrect. The 39.6 recorded is the highest 50 mile segment recorded at some previous time. The 15.1 is the average of the LAST 50 mile segment he has driven.
I have achieved 36.3mpg for my best 25 mile segment driving on I-95 (no hills)with the cruise set at 70mph and have achieved 41.5 mpg for my best 25 mile segment with the cruise set at 60 mph.
I have almost 5000 miles on my C7 and have averaged 22.7 mpg over that period. The majority of those miles were local and I sure did a lot of demonstration rides that were quite "aggressive"!

9 mpg more and not impressed? What would impress you? With the extra hp & tq the 30% increase in mpg isn't good enough? Not apples to apples but...
