Thanks Glen. YOU THE MAN!
I knew I saw that picture before.

I think that will help the OP and it reminded me that I have to grab one of those out of the Garage for my Car. I drive without the Top most of the time here is S. CA.

Interesting. Last week, when I reached in to get something off the floor (with the top down), it started making beepy noises at me, but no honking.

The plastic wall anchors are brilliant, BTW. From the picture, it looks like the driver's side; is this correct?

There is a switch button inside one of the guide holes for the Removable Top in the Windshield Header. When you remove the Top, the button disengages and the Intrusion Alarm is off. I guess they didn't want the Alarm to go off when an errant Leaf falls off a Tree and lands inside the Car.

You can override it by placing one of those Plastic Wall Anchors inside the hole to engage the switch button. Someone here came up with that idea, so the interior of the Car will be secure with the Top off as well.
Are you sure the MD doesn't work with the top off, I seem to recall throwing a plastic bad into the car when the top was off and the horn went off until I hit unlock with the fob.....

Pretty sure. All I know is what I read on Corvette Forum and what I read in the Manual. Now, where did I put that darn Manual?

So the only point of the motion sensors is for when you want to leave the windows down but leave the top on? Wow thats just pointlesss. Why else would you want motion sensors if not for when you have the top off to know someone is messing with your car?!?!

Motion sensors are where? In mirror?
Hey Glen I see you are getting your answers you needed. One interesting thing I learned was when I place my C7 on the lift, once I start to raise the lift the alarm will sound due to the motion if I don't disengage the motion sensor.

I must have it disengaged as it didn't go off when I raised it...what exactly did I disengage? Passive locking?

After rereading these Posts, I think we are confusing the "Motion Sensor" with the "Intrusion Alarm".

I assume they are exclusive of each other especially with the Intrusion Alarm switch in the Windshield Header.

I can see it now,

Cop filling out the Car Theft Report: I thought Corvettes had an alarm?

Corvette Owner: I took the Roof off.

Cop: WTF?

So why doesn't the intrusion alarm work with the top off then? Odd that the top would be necessary for it to work right..

The intrusion sensor does not work with top off, that's a given. Why GM chose to do that is unknown, probably so a leaf falling in won't set it off. If you want to arm it, use the 25 cent wall moly above.

Somebody messes with your wheels or any thing else but movement in the car, with the top off, and the system will work fine.

The original question here was strictly about the cabin movement sensor.

I'm waiting for a Vendor to make the Wall Anchors in CARBON FIBER.

They don't have them in CF at Home Depot.

So im using a wall anchor now too. Why GM didnt make an option to enable or disable that restriction beats me. Oh well. Guess I will just keep it jerry rigged for now. Cheers!

Don't know where the sensor is.
Now I know why mine said it as well! I parked with windows closed on a hot day and my Sticky Mount on my Passport Max came unstuck! Did not think about that as the cause- thanks.
This is the third time it has happened when parked on a hot day with the car facing the sun. Fortunately I installed a tether after the first time as I did not want to see it hanging from the power cord! Made mine from a very thin stainless wire fishing lure leader with a clasp. Attached it to the base of the Sticky Mount and screwed a very small eye hook into the top molding. Detector and holder just hang a short distance from the top molding when it lets loose. Guess that was enough movement to trip the sensor.

Ummm....No.

It does work with the top off. I've set mine off a couple times.
Locked/armed with the key fob.

First time, I reached over the window towards the console to put something in the cupholder.
Second time I reached in to the seat to get something I dropped.

I'd venture you have the switch (next to the hatch release button) off.

I did this the other day. I had the top off in the garage and forgot about the alarm..did not have my FOB on me and I reached in to put a bag in there...alarm started going off.

I do have the wall anchor thingy but it was not in the hole so I guess I don't need that anymore.

No LED or Icon. When you push the switch next to the hatch/trunk release by your left knee it enables/disables the 'MOTION SENSOR' and alerts you in the message center on your display behind the steering wheel, the DIC.
