Another CGM Z51 owner here. Mine has AR Competition Seats, 2 LT.
I had the Silver Wheels and just had them Powder Coated Gloss Black.
Changes the look of the Car more than I could have imagined.
With a one year only color, I guess this means we now own Collector Cars.
If I'm not mistaken, I think the 2015 Z06 will be available in CGM.
I have no idea who comes up with these changes at GM or why.
Can you post a pic of your car with the new wheel finish? The link below if from the CGM color thread of a new c7 with the base wheels done in black and I think they look awesome. I actually think they look better than the Z51 wheels in black because the have a glossier sheen and you can see more the rotors and calipers . I would like to see just what sheen you used on yours to help me decide what I might go with.
Damn, this change from CGM to TSG may ultimately force my hand on a decision.
I've also read that the 2015's may also get the Start-Stop technology. Things like radar detectors and such would require adapters to stay on when the engine shuts down at idle. The SS tech may also force my '14 vs '15 decision, especially if you can't disable it upon start-up.
To each his own but there must be a good reason that Chevrolet has used the Cyber Gray in most of their promotional material and when it was first shown in last years debut. It's a classy looking color for sure.
GM Screwed up. CGM was the top seller it's first year.
Then the second total color sold on ZR1's. Good color!

Glad I went 14 if they include the start stop which they can stick!

I bet they are having paint issues matching the color. There have already been threads about cars that made it past QC with mismatched body panels so imagine how many they must be catching before they leave?
The new gray is also light enough to drop silver which may lead to another color all together.
Also... GM hasn't really gone with sales to depict colors. In fact it could be inverse of sales that causes them to change the color to keep the cars looking fresh on the road. They have continually dropped some very high selling colors for who knows what reason. They also change up popular colors for what seems like the hell of it (going back and forth between Torch Red and a darker red; going from bright white to a more subdued white, etc.) Even though the sales / desire means colors like Torch Red and Arctic White are the ones that sell it seems they mix it up for a couple years just because.

So, the windshield wipers will stop, the car lights will go off, the radio will go off, the fan for the heater/AC will go off, the dash will go dark, the HUD will go dark and .....
Are you sure that you will lose electrical power if the engine "takes a nap" at idle? It seems to me that all things electrical will not go away. If the radar detector is wired to the fuse box, why would it go off?

I'm not sure you actually understand how Start-Stop works. Only the engine shuts down, not the entire electrical system. Additionally, in every car I've driven with Start-Stop there has been an easily accessible switch to turn it on or off. That means not having to scroll through screens or menus, just push the button. (It also means not letting the engineer who designed the seat memory recall on the '14's design the Start-Stop system.)
On the cars I've rented in Europe that had it installed, I didn't find it intrusive. Maybe because I just turned it off when I thought it might be. Also, traffic signals with a warning yellow light prior to a green light meant no delay at the light as I'd put it into gear on yellow which automatically restarts the engine. US signals don't have that, but they should.
