Cags
I bought a CAGS eliminator from RPI and installed it on Saturday. Pretty easy installation with a jack and jack stands - I went in from the left side of the car and was able to easily get a screwdriver into place to pop open the plastic retaining clip on the sensor.
I may be paranoid but as Andy Grove, former CEO on Intel wrote “Only the paranoid survive!” The problem with the C7 skip shift is it doesn’t happen as much as prior Vettes. My biggest concern driving today (having never had an accident with another car in 50+ years of driving, …. pause while looking for some wood!) is folks using their cell phones and worse texting while driving! In fact in SC we just passed a law saying if the car is moving you can’t text-still see a lot doing it! This actually happened to me: we have little heavy traffic where I live. Had not encountered skip shift since I am usually past 18 mph when shifting to 2nd. However got caught in some bumper to bumper traffic. Started off and shifted early before I had to stop again. Tried to shift to 2nd and couldn’t. Didn’t think about skip shift! I fumbled before I realized what happened and went to 4th, by this time the car slowed much more than I expected. Had the person behind me started just after me then received a text message and like Pavlov’s Dogs responded to the sound as many do, they would not have expected me to slow prematurely and could have been in my rear!
I have enough to do to watch for “texters and cell phone users” who are distracted from being attentive about driving and don’t need something to make it worse! As I recall the law in SC, you can still text if the car is not moving! So at a stop light those who are conditioned to respond to the sound of their cell phone (like the bell Pavlov used with his dogs) can still legally scan their phone and worry about what the trivia their friend wrote rather than pay attention to driving! We do not ban driving while holding a phone!
This recent article in Road & Track: http://www.roadandtrack.com/go/car-c...racted-driving reinforces that sometimes there is a real reason for being paranoid!
The author claims 9 people die every day and about 1200 are injured from distracted driving! As they note, people know it is dangerous and still do it! Unlike a DUI which has a social stigma, texting and driving does not! In addition in SC it’s only a $25 fine! Hope insurance companies treat it like a DUI and maybe we’ll get something significant accomplished!
I’m convinced, particularly since the skip shift doesn’t happen often with the C7, when it does you’re not expecting it and stumbling can put the person following you in stop-and-go traffic, who is distracted, bumping into your rear end! Cheap insurance and you can shift were you want when you want!
A CAGS Eliminator is a safety device, in my opinion!
Had an incident other day that reminded me of the "Paying No Attention Issue!" Was driving into town on I95 when I came across the recently changed speed limit for ~5 miles from 70 to 60. I slowed to 65 as I always do (police love this new stretch near Rt 20 and patrol it all the time!) A young lady pulled behind me it an old Alfa sedan. She was very close to my bumper and I expected her to pass me as I was in the center lane, since the right lane peels off to Rt 20. She didn’t! Her arms were swinging away with a cell phone in her hand! She had no idea that some folks in the right and center lanes at the last minute see they don’t want to go to Rt 20 and change lanes quickly. If one did, she was oblivious to what was around her! Sorry for my soap box, I’ll still spend ½ my time in my mirrors when on I95!

Because I had not encountered the forced shift, the first time I moved forward in bumper to bumper traffic I fumbled and the car slowed for a few seconds until I realized what was occurring! Had the person behind me been like Pavlov’s Dogs and felt compelled to look downwhen their cell phone beeped, to see who sent them a text, right when my car suddenly and unexpectedly slowed; they could have been in my bumper! We finally passed a law in SC saying no texting when the car is moving! Big deal it’s a $25 dollar and you can text or read them at a light. As a policeman told a friend who was the 2nd not 1st car to move foward when his light turned green and was hit when someone drove through a red light. The officer said they look up and see a green light then read a text and look down long enough not to see it turn red! $20 and a easy install is cheap insurance IMO!!

Don't know why so many argue against this for under $30.
Of course, my C7 is an A8... LOL

I had the bypass on the '94, but on the 15, I don't see the need for it.
