Has anyone cancelled their order at one of the Big 3 forum sponsor dealers and got their deposit back? It has only been 3 weeks since I placed my order, still at order status 1100, but I have found the exact car I ordered at another dealer for the same price. I would really appreciate any advice you guys can give me. Thanks.

My sales guy tried to sell me on a C7 that came in while I was waiting, he said that the money could easily be rolled over onto the new car. I also recall him saying that refunds of the deposit were handled at the dealership level, have you contacted your dealership?
Every vehicle I've bought from Hendrick Chevrolet in KC has either been on their lot or "searched and found" and a dealer trade. Don Ross has always been able to find the EXACT car I wanted within 300 miles. Dealer trade and I have the vehicle within 3 days.
Now, to your point. I've actually canceled an order and received my deposit back, but that was 10 years ago, before money was this tight. Talk to your dealer.....

Our policy is that if the car is still at 1100 we would refund the money, but once it goes beyond 1100 it's non-refundable. Today is the day the order would get pulled from 1100 to 2000, so if it's us, please call or email today to stop the order from going in, but I don't think it's us since I don't think I have any orders that have been waiting for more than a week.

I have not contacted the dealership yet. The contract I signed was pretty ironclad and I am sure for this very reason. I was hoping someone else had gone through the same experience now that the factory is getting the orders out to other dealers.
I made 2 deposits and got a refund BEFORE the order was cut and got a refund. If I read your question correctly........ your order is placed. The paperwork I got from Les Stanford and Criswell clearly stated once it is ordered they have the right to keep your deposit.
I would contact the dealer ASAP like right now and be honest with them. If your car is a popular color and accessories maybe they will give you the money back, bring it to stock and sell it. But IMHO you made a binding agreement with them and they have every legal right to keep your $.
Wow, surprised about the nonrefundable info. At my forum dealer I signed nothing and the wording was simply "$1000 refundable deposit".
However this is my second Corvette with him and he knew I would not cancel and the chance of my combo being available anywhere other than by my order was pretty much nil.
3 weeks for a Top 3 dealer to still be at 1100--that's very strange.
Most will have you at 3300 easy by then.
1100 you should have no problem canceling--just call the dealer, as we cannot answer your question.
Digging up his order number in the tracking thread, the dealer has responded in this thread already. Looks like they do have an order at 1100 for more than a week.
OP: Give them a call before they submit your order, they might be doing it right now... I think I can hear the keyboard and mouse clicking!

I just did the same. I actually got that order 2 weeks ago yesterday and yes it is going in today! If the OP calls or emails me today I can still cancel, no big deal.
And now I know why it was sitting for 2 weeks. The week I was going to put this in they started releasing the C2Z, FAY and both dual roof options so I had a lot of old orders sitting waiting that got priority over this one because they're deposits were in for months.

Even though my car has been produced and shipped I've been watching the constraint list too. That's what I was suspecting to be the case.
Thanks for taking a very honest approach on the forums, Dave. I've been impressed with your posts in the threads I've run across lately.
Really, your ordered car is the same, why not let the order be processed? Sounds like the order is paired with the allegation, now all that is left is for GM to accept it (2000). The weather is lousy, in about six weeks the weather should improve (I hope) and the car should arrive ready to go. I expect mine around mid April.
