Very disappointed about price increase

The Corvette price increase made national news on CNN this morning. The article states that acceptance of the C7 was much greater than GM expected. The average number of days a C7 sits at the dealer before customer delivery is 7. The overall average is 60!!!! Guess that tells part of the story
Thanks for posting that Georgie, very interesting. What will be more interesting is to see how that day supply increases as the price goes up and the 14's get stale due to the 15's arrival. It is my feeling that the early must have buyers may have deflated the market a bit, we'll see.

You are wrong. The Ford GT was a mass produced car with 4,038 built. Ford originally planned to build 6,000 of them over a three year period, but due to poor sales, stopped production after two years and 4,038 built.
The C6 ZR1 was also a mass produced car with a total of 4,684 built over a 5 year period. GM had "hinted" that the ZR1 would also be around 6,000 built over a 3 year period, but GM elected not to pull the plug after 3 years, but instead run the ZR1 out to the end of the C6's run, even thought he annual production was dismal over the last 3 years of production due to poor sales.
Compare the resale prices of used GT's to that of the used ZR1's.
Do you really believe that the GT's 646(13.8%) less cars built makes it a "specially" car?

And I think you mean "specialty" not "specially".

I was mistaken on the total to be built(bad memory) as it was to be 4500. Production was stopped at 4038(due to poor sales is 2006) and the final 11 car bodies and chassis' were disassembled and the body parts and frames were sold as service parts.
Still doesn't alter the fact that the GT was not built in vastly lower numbers than the ZR1. The production numbers are not the reason GT's are selling for way over the car's original MSRP and the ZR1's are selling for way under the car's original MSRP.
FYI, the nearly 10,000 C7's built in calendar year 2013 are 2014 models, not 2013 models.

550 built in 2004(as 2005 models) as the first delivery was in Sept of 2004. Approximately 1900 built in 2005 and approximately 1600 built in 2006. The fact is that the GT was only produced as two model years; 2005 and 2006.

I agree. My Corvette is not a status symbol. It is totally paid off and is a great value with a warranty, good looks, decent highway mileage, and it fits my personality.
I also don't like to spend more than I need. I get stripped down Vettes because I just don't care about the options such as 2k wheels and 1k exhausts. I once bought a brand new 2006 Silverado 2 seater with rebates and GM Card money and traded it in 18 months later for 2k more than I paid for it. I could have been a big shot and bought a quad cab but I thought better of it.

I bought a '13 with MSRP of 54k for 42k. Just too good of a deal to pass up. I'm in the top 1% and then some but for a weekend toy just couldn't see the need to spend another 13-15k for the C7. I also do prefer the C6 styling. I guess I would be called a squeaker or cheapskate here but I just hate the idea of spending more then I need to. I bought the car to have fun, not to impress people at the gas station while pumping gas (an actual thread here which is pretty embarrassing).

All models of Corvettes are cool. I never understood the bickering between owners of different generations. I go to Corvette shows in the summer. Everyone is having a ball and enjoying looking at the cars. I have yet to see one person disrespect any other owner for any reason. We celebrate the Corvette culture. Buy what ever Corvette model you can afford and enjoy the ride...

Imagine if we had to actually live for survival....the horror. Instead we literally stress out between Z51 and base or 2LT and 3LT. The starving pygmies in South America would be impressed.
