Has anyone driven the 2015 Mustang? Are there road tests for the car yet. I didn't think there were yet. I don't doubt the Corvette C7 will be a better performer than the 2015 Mustang, but until there is real information, how can you say you would take the C7? To me, that just sounds like someone who would take the C7 over anything just because it is a C7 (unless that is based primarily on looks since we know what the Mustang will look like).
The Mustang will probably be the best bang for the buck in performance, but I expect it will fall short of the C7 in overall performance. I do think it will be much less expensive than the C7.
No duh of course not, but don't wet your shorts... based on the tons of int/ext photos, videos, and info on the new Mustang, I still prefer the C7 in the end. It's also well known that the new S550 will have an IRS therefore its handling will be better than the S197 chassis although its Coyote 5.0 will have similar or a tad more power than the Boss 302's 444hp engine... therefore I can closely relate since my C7 has better power/performance than vs. my Boss. And therefore to answer your question, it's simply my personal opinion & experience that I'd still take the C7 over the current and over the new Mustang. Plus it doesn't mean I'm bashing the new one neither... I'd be the last person to do that. I'm a sports & muscle car enthusiast and I appreciate the performance & improvements year after year from both GM and Ford. At this point, I would take the C7 over anything south of 75K. And over that too since I'm waitlisted for the new Z06.... again, because it's my preference and my choice.
+1. I am sure the 15 mustang is great, but not even on my radar due to C7.
My S197 had Shelby installed Ford Racing suspension kit, and other mods for HPDE, it was a total blast on road course, can't wait to HPDE the C7.
Just in street driving I can say…yeah no regrets selling my Shelby for Vette, except that the Shelby was 1 of about 100 or less. But by the time that matters I will be most likely be dead, so whatever.
I traded in a 2013 Mustang GT with the brembo brake package and 3.73 rear for my C7 so I can give you a direct comparison.
The Mustang was much more of a top-end car in the RPM range than the Corvette. The minute you step on the gas in the C7 you will get pushed back in your seat with the instant torque. The Mustang was more of a gradual build-up, even with the 3.73 gears.
The Corvette is noticeably faster even with just the seat of the pants meter. It pulls hard all the way to redline. It's a lighter car with a decent amount more power. So the answer to your question is yes, you will definitely feel the difference. When you compare handling it's even more noticeable, but that is obvious.
After spending the money that you did, the mind has a way of overriding fact with fiction for reasons of mental self preservation. So whether the perceived difference is real or not, may be irrelevant.
If it makes you feel any better, I've driven a Mustang GT and found my 2012 Grand Sport to be significant improvement, and my c7 was a significant improvement over the grand Sport.
Ok, some of you will most likely think this is a stupid question. And some of you will respond" Then why did you ask"?. I've owned 2 Mustang GT's. The last was the 2012 premium. Never owning or even driving a corvette I have a 2014 with the Z51 package coming hopefully in a month or so. I'm curious if anyone out there drove the Mustang, the new one with 412 horses. It has some power. Will I really feel the difference in the two? Not talking about all around performance because I know the chevy blows the ford away, just pure power. Thanks
One thing you will enjoy is the mpg. At 72mph over about 400 miles I got 31.4 mpg and I punched it a number of times passing those trucks who pulled out in front to pass another truck going one mile slower.

I had the same mustang GT you had, a 2012 GT Premium, and while it was a nice car, I can tell you that you will notice a couple differences. First, the Z51 will ride firmer and you will feel more bumps than in the Mustang, but it will handle much better, and the power difference will be more than noticeable. First off, the torque is much stronger and you will be amazed at how this car will pull, even from 1000 RPM. And this was in comparison to a GT that was reflashed by Ford Racing to improve torque. Truly, there is no comparison between the two cars.
This is my first Corvette, but my impression on the first drive, where I did not exceed 3500 RPM (new car) was as follows; a huge smile followed by the expletive "holy s***", and then the realization that I had graduated to the big leagues.
No doubt many forum readers will have had a similar response on their initial drive.
Congratulations on your new ride.
