Default C7 auto

Hi, all. ready to buy a new c7, how about telling me pro's and con's of the automatic. I can't make up my mind I have no problem with a manual but a Engineer here a GM with 1000hp on his Camero says I'll have everything i need to do with a Auto. Please opionize I have driven both of them. Thankyou Mark

Quite honestly, that is something only you can decide.

You said you've driven both so you should have your answer.

I agree Ken. It is a personal choice that only the OP can honestly answer.

This will get interesting though.

The auto is quicker, the manual should have a higher top speed if that is something you care about. If you drive in a lot of stop and go traffic automatic is nice. If you want 1 mpg better city and highway go manual. Manual is $1250 cheaper. I got auto because I want the quickest car and have to go through a security checkpoint every morning with about 50 cars in it.

It's a personal choice. Surely you've owned both in the past? Which did you prefer? That's what I suggest you go with here.

exactly.

if you have not driven a 6 or 7 speed manual for at least a couple of hours consecutively in a lot of traffic, you should before you make the decision for yourself. unless you like driving on twisty roads a lot or you want to play racer, auto does everything you want and need, for the most part, better. you can drive it aggressively or normally. the manual feels the best only when driven aggressively because, otherwise, it feels like there are too many gears to me, and I don't like skipping them on the upshift.

How well do the paddles work? Do people use them a lot to control the gears like a manual when carving canyons? Any feedback appreciated.

There's still a torque converter. Granted, with no experience, I don't see the point in the paddles.

The stick lets YOU decide when to change gears and is more fun to drive IMHO.

But can't you put the auto in manual mode and use the paddles to control the gears?

Joint in one hand, brew in the other hand, leaves no hands for pushing a stick around.

Why? Just more fun? I want a manual but my wife doesn't know how to drive one so I'm sacrificing the manual so that she can drive it from time to time.

I got an Automatic and am kicking myself for it. I admit I have not played with the paddle shifters yet...so I don't know if I can recreate the feeling of a manual. Most of the youtube videos doing comparisons to other vehicles seem to show manual transmissions.....and they look to be having more fun than people with Auto's.

Just saying....Get it in Cyber Gray...2LT...Z51 with the special suspension and red calipers and M7...and if you don't like it...we'll swap?

That is why the stick is the safer alternative!
