Best to purchase out-of-state and avoid the CA dealers who heavily inflate MSRP. What better protest than to buy anywhere except CA. I would rather pay a bit extra than give those dealers any business. Even after paying cross-country shipping the cost is less.
Yep. When I was in a local dealership a few weeks before actually ordering mine from Kerbeck, I seen a 3lt Laguna blue automatic for 83k. I am sure some sucker bought it. Even with my transport costs the car I ordered 2LT was less than 60k.
The Sacramento Chevy dealers are douchebags, plain and simple.

Boardwalk is only a short drive to the bay area from Sac. and they don't play those games. Tim can order cars, but because he isn't playing games with markup they have minimal cars in stock that are not sold. I ordered and received mine from him.

Boardwalk is the exception in California according to this site. I've never been there but lot's of positive posts.

Abel Chevrolet in Rio Vista, just 50 miles south of Sacramento is selling all C7's for MSRP. As a matter of fact, they sold a premier edition coupe for 1k under sticker. They currently have four in stock, some with Z51. That's where I ordered mind.
Three Way Chevrolet in Bakersfield sells at MSRP all day long. Now allocation might make getting a car real soon somewhat problematic. Still, they're honest folks who treat you with respect. Wouldn't throw all California dealers in the same bag. There are fair dealers all around, you just have to do the research and make a few calls.
I bought mine from WIN in Southern California at MSRP. They markup the cars in the showroom but order for you at MSRP. Business wise its a good tactic especially in Southern California when rich people walk in the dealership and would rather pay 10k than wait 2months for a car to come in.
was at a dealership in sacramento Ca. over the weekend they had a cyber grey covertiable , auto coupe 3lt with a sticker of $91 k
got to lov'em
They tried That once on me in 2007 looking at a 2008. I went to a Forum dealer and drove it home. I saved about 12,000 total including the mark-up.
One way plane ticket to get there! No mark-up for me!
They do NOT want to sell the car....it is there to draw people to their showroom...and it works!
Cheap advertising for them. When it stops drawing people in for a look they drop the price it and sell it quickly. Costs them nothing... And if they get really lucky someone will walk in with a pocket full of cash and buy it at the marked up price. Pure profit.

Well its not free. That car just sitting there is preventing them from placing another vehicle that will sell there. But your right its not expensive, because it gets people in the showroom just to see the stingray and while they're there they test drive a Malibu and off the lot with a Malibu they go and all they wanted to do is see a stingray.
The people who are buying these cars with the extremely marked up price are uneducated suckers that don't realize theres other ways to score this car for way less.
