I am very interested in finding out more about expel paint protection. Looking for some feedback regarding cost, wear and tear, who thinks it's worth it and who does not. Sorry to bring this up again but can't find it. Should be taking delivery of 2014 AW Z51 and streets are filled with pebbles from pot hole patches. I know scratches and chips are inevitable but I would like some protection if there is a product that works. Thanks.

I'm actually heading over to FT. Lauderdale this weekend to meet with an installer and learn more about the product. I can fill you in then.

Glen did you install Xpel on your car?

Xpel (4 kits) install here and no regrets here. It barely shows, heals, and protects!

No...I'm not that paranoid about chips and drive only 6000 yr...I did apply it on my door sills...it's 15 bucks on amazon for sills...DIY...I think it's great for 400 or so for the front end, I think it's insane to do the whole car.....looks plasticky ....I much prefer the under glass look you get with sealants and coatings…

I've had my 2014 Stingray wrapped in XPEL but went to a local shop to have it put on, which they did an excellent job. IMHO I would have a reputable installer put the XPEL in especially if doing the complete car. It has a 10 year warranty and seems to work great - had bird crap on my car which I didn't notice and washed it off with warm water and it left know mark. It will cost you to wrap the car but with the 10 year warranty (which include the installation) and keeping my car for that long or longer it's worth the cost - just like insurance.
Enjoy the ride!

Learn about XPEL Ultimate from the manufacturer here. Watch the videos and check out the Frequently Asked Questions. Find dealers in your area using their Dealer Locator. I had the front fascia, full hood, full front fenders, mirrors, door open recess, full rocker panels done.

I did not have PPF on my C6 (which I sold with 36,000 miles after 8 years). Even though it was low mileage (~ 4,500 per year) it had several paint dings from rocks/debris on the front fascia and also well up on the hood.

Are you in the Dallas. area, If so call (or google) Forcefield Paint Protection. They did an excellent job on my car. Totally satisfied with the work. Ask for Kevin Williams.

Murphy's law is in effect with this stuff. It seems that where you didn't put the xpel is where you'll get the rock chips. If you wrap the entire car, kinda takes away from the whole car wash & wax ritual & I don't see the purpose in waxing the Xpel you put all over your car. When your car's dirty, 10 mins. with a Karcher pressure washer will get it as clean as it was new! So if you hate washing your car, then WOO HOO this stuff is a miracle...

Wormwood

Oh forgot!! It will not only add value to the car but removes any argument about condition of the paint when/if you do sell the car...

I had pretty much my whole car covered in Xpel Ultimate (the only self-healing Xpel by the way - they make other material but only Ultimate is self-healing).

The only parts not covered are the tops of the doors and rear hatch area.

Not cheap but the car is protected now!

I did the front end and headlights. Very pleased. Get it done by a good installer. A good starting place to find one would be xpel.com.

I did my whole car after seeing a couple other cars done. When I went to pick it up I had to ask if he even started the work yet, it is that invisable. when I took it into the dealer to get some due bill work done, they couldnt even tell it was done until I brought it up. Not sure what you mean by plasticky look, but I had the XPEL Ultimate done and seriously you cant see it.

Default time out!

ok, so im a dofuss, and i dont get it(there, now we dont need to disrupt this entire thread with that ), but still, think about it. you buy an inexpensive sports car--but, "good buy for the money". the car has probably the worlds second cheapest paint on it. the paint is poorly applied much of the time (orange peel). so you cover it with saran wrap, which looks like saran wrap--just to complete the look??? and to protect that great paint??? zounds! [note: buy a porsche 918, and you can get the paint upgrade for the cost of an entire z51--now you have something to protect]

Hey dofuss-yes you are!! This is CORVETTE forum not porsche!!
The paint on our new C7 is beautiful. The Xpel is great and we don't flinch (as much) when we are behind a truck. My C5Z has chips and no clear bra but also 92,350 miles!
And, I have had porsches,MGs,triumphs,VWs, etc which is why we both have the best cars now-CORVETTE!!

Ya know that old saying about keep one's mouth shut and having the world think them a fool instead of opening it and removing all doubt?

You should consider that expression and take it to heart

Dang, almost makes sense. Many threads about the orange peal and poor paint work. So there are issues with it. Also many threads about Xpel or other paint protectors on it. Does have to make one wonder.

It is suppose to be the bargain of the year for a sports car.

That said, I paid to have my paint properly preped and the few spots of orange peel taken care of. Then had Xpel ultimate put on the Front, rockers and mirrors for stone chip protection.

Had Optic coat pro done on the car to protect the rest of the paint.

Still have to laugh, there is a valid point in thedofuss post.
