My rattle was the passenger side clip that the roof snaps into when stowed...

I notice that both the front hooks make noise on mine too only when the rood is stowed. I can reach back and hold the roof panel and the rattles will stop.

I also notice that the rear supports on the back wall that hold the horizontal roof pins are pretty loose and may rattle.

I have not tried to permanently fix.

Did you find a fix?

also, I don't know if this is what you're hearing but I noticed a similar rattle which turned out to be the passenger seat belt buckle hitting against the b-pillar. I pulled the lower part of the seat belt housing forward, in front of the seat back, and the rattle stopped.

Another thing to look for: see if the passenger seat is elevated to the point where the top of the seat is in contact with the "roll bar". Wifey had mine way up there. The car has been solid as a rock even on our crappy, hole filled roads.

I haven't had a chance yet. I'm hoping it's just a loose screw.

This just happened to me lol, my wife is short and had the seat cranked up. For a while every time I'd hit some bumps it sounded like sandpaper rubbing on something. Thought it was the battery styrofoam cover at first but I took that out and it still did it. Then I happened to notice the passenger seat back moving when it was making the noise and sure enough the top of the seat was jammed up against the halo.

But I solved it by REMOVING shims at the first screw in my picture below to create a GAP between the window gasket and body panel.

This was mentioned above, but this looks like it shims the interface tighter rather than removing the interference as I did:

My approach:

Push here to see if it squeaks:

If it does, remove this screw:

Remove at least 1 shim:

And you want to create a small gap, then do the press-squeak test again. If it does remove another shim (they were different thickness on mine):

Thank you for this post as I removed one shim and the rattle behind my head is now gone. The panel fitment is still good too.

Had that rattle over a bump and did not know why until a forum poster mentioned the seat belt Solved the issue with a seat belt pad! Easy to test, just tie a rag around the metal buckle and see if it stops.
