Default SD card help

Hello fellow Forum Members...

I performed a search, which was of no help, and read the infotainment manual pretty thoroughly. I can't get the car to recognize the SD card I am putting into the designated slot. I press the "media" button repeatedly, but all it sees is the geek stick I have in one of the USB ports. What am I missing?

Thanks a lot

How's the content on the card organized? Are you using a recognized format for your music?

Etc etc?

What brand SD card are you using, I think it was KH who said the SanDisk doesn't work too well with C7.

Not sure about the SD card, but there definitely is a compatibility issue with the infotainment system and the SanDisk USB thumb drives. I changed over to a PNY thumb drive and my issues went away.

I've no idea what format, other than I just dragged and dropped my iTunes folders onto the card and stuck it in the car. Is there something I'm supposed to do first?

You might need to rip the files into a different format.

Not in the C7 yet but my SD in my radio uses WMA format.

And export your playlists

Here's a thread with a really good tutorial on how to do that from Wormwood:

I believe you have to export in a format the car recognizes. Just copying in Apples proprietary format won't work. While I don't have my music in iTunes, my wife does, and she was able to specify an export in high bitrate (256kb IIRC) mp3s.

Also agree with the San Disc comments. SanDisk puts proprietary security formatting on many of their disks and thumb drives. They must be reformatted with either FAT32 or NTFS format.

Although many of the SanDisks I use get reformatted to the Linux file system too but that's another story

I wonder if it doesn't allow a card and usb to be used at the same time? I am going to try to do the sd card today and will see how it goes.

It does and toggles between them by pressing the MEDIA button

And if you have a Bluetooth and registered smartphone, it'll toggle that too!

Guys, I got my SD card to work for my music but can't figure out how to change playlists and I was told I could have my pics on an SD card and it would play a pic slideshow as I listened to the radio but I can't even find the file with the pics in it. Anyone know how to work that thing?

Thank ya sir. Will try that. I made two playlists by adding songs to two different files and then a pic file. Will this play pics in a slideshow while music is playing?

THAT I haven't seen on mine, although it does show album artwork if I have the jpeg on the card.

I was told it would play pics in a slideshow and I think I may have been misinformed.
