This is probably obvious but help me out...
On a courtesy delivery, who does the payment transaction for the sale?
The shipping or the receiving dealer? I get that I will pay a fee to the receiving dealer, but who do I pay for the car? My credit union does not do out of state loans, (I'm in Ca, probably ordering from Mcmulkin in NH) but I have other options if necessary.
Have you checked with Boardwalk Chev ( forum dealer) in Redwood City?
Yes but a bit leery. No discount off msrp like McMulken. Not a favorable BBB rating, bad reviews on yelp. Still an option with Boardwalk. Tim Boone seems cool, but hard to beat the discount plus reviews concern me.
I can only speak personally. We ordered my wife's Z51 3lt with all the toys vert on Feb 4 and it is on rail with expected arrival at Boardwalk next Thurs/Friday if no weather rail problems. Ordered completely from emails and just met Tim face to face today when we went in to pay for it as tax rate is going up tomorrow and we saved about 375.00 got the car for MSRP and very pleased with the transaction and speed of delivery! Other dealers around here are either $5+over MSRP OR CAN't deliver !!!!

Thanks for the input. Boardwalk still an option due to being a forum dealer and Tims good reputation.
I bought my 2011 from MacMulken (custom factory order). Did a courtesy delivery here in Orange County, CA. I remember the deposit going directly to MacMulken, but all the paperwork and financing paperwork was printed out at the local dealer while I was sitting there. I don't know who got the money (Tommy set the whole thing up), but it was an easy painless process and I would do it all again in a heartbeat.
The dealer did try and sell me a little Scotch Guard type of deal and some security BS, but it was easy to say "no". They did fill up the gas tank and spent a little time programming the Nav and showing me the basics of the car. They didn't get the sale to me, but I think they were fairly compensated for their time. I typically give them my service business since (they are not my closest Chevy dealer).
Good luck on your deal, and you'll be fine with MacMulken.

I ordered my 07 from Tim when I lived in NorCal. Great experience, I don't think you'd be disappointed if you do business with him but I understand the savings playing a major part in the decision.
You pay the ordering dealer for the car , and pay the courtesy delivery dealer when picking up the car . Just BEWARE it can be a mess
My experience was a train wreck terrrible communication from Criswell Chevy which was my ordering dealer . And when I picked up the car From Mountain View Chevy in Upland ( paid 500.00) , the fleet manager handed me the keys and said I better find a gas station before I try to get her home and BTW the salesman that knows about the C7 was out .
Avoid these two dealers and you will be fine BTW I LOVE THE CAR

Thanks for the info. I'm in LA and I'm seriously considering this route. I'd like to stay local but that's not looking too likely.
My big issue with the process is that I wouldn't be able to trade my car to the out of state dealer. I assume courtesy delivery dealer wouldn't take it if they aren't actually selling the C7.

Well actually, it's not an out-of-state loan. If you live in CA then it's an in-state loan with an out-of-state payee
How does the courtesy delivery work? Are there any added fees?
Find out if your local dealer will accept a courtesy delivery and his fee to do that. I my case, my local guy could not get me a car...I gave him that option before placing the order with MacMulkin. Selling dealer orders the car and specifies the courtesy dealer as the point of delivery. Upon invoicing (at least in my case) selling dealer will require full payment. Upon delivery, pay the delivering dealer his courtesy fee and drive away. In my case, the fee was $250, but it can be much more...I've heard $$ up to $1000. It's really pretty painless..

Thanks for the info. I did the same thing, and also ordered from MacMulkin. I will call them tomorrow and ask about getting it delivered to my local dealer. That would be awesome because I dont know when I will be able to get up to NH.
