Kalahari interior, upgraded security system, Centerpoint stereo and heated/cooled seats are what I wanted so that's why I ordered the 2LT.....the HUD I can take it or leave it although I'd probably feel naked without it (even though I rarely use it).
We got our C7 2 weeks ago and now I have about 1000 miles on it. One reason I worried was would I be able to enjoy driving without the HUD like I had on my C6 and also my C5? Well, I can say this....I didn't miss the HUD at all because the dash speedo has a very large speed graphic that is easy to read. So, I saved 4 grand !. And the car is terrific. My only complaints are the seat belt holder on the seat corner is useless when the seat is way back. I'm sure that will probably change in future models. And my wife thinks the visor mirror is too small.
That seat belt guide is made for smaller people or children, my wife or myself dont use it. I guess they assume smaller people wont have the seat all the way back
Get the 2LT, I've had both (2 C7s) 1 and 2LT. Whacked my knee EVERYTIME I entered the 1LT car...I ended up hating it and got a 2LT, with memory that solves the problem.
Something interesting about the HUD I don't think was mentioned... It's VERY integrated with the NAV.
Google Maps is a far superior navigation, but I still use the Navi in the car because, still, I don't have to take my eyes off the road. The voice prompts are OK, but even the street names and turn offs come up in the HUD. The arrows and distance before the next turn comes up as well. When you're nearing the destination, there's a sort of 3D-ish street image that comes up with a flag. Pretty smart since looking down and to the right at the screen is not really that safe. And actually, the same information that is displayed in the cluster is the information you're seeing in the HUD so there's really no reason to look down at either of the screens.
I use the Navi a few times a month. If the navi wasn't so well integrated into the HUD, I would still use Google Maps.
I'm sorry if I seem uninformed but just what do you mean by saying "I would still use Google Maps."? Would this be on a separate GPS? Your cell phone? An iPad? How would you access Google Maps in the vehicle?

Yes, it would be a separate device.
All of my Android devices have Google Maps which has incredibly good navigation on it. While Google Maps is a free software, it is superior to nearly every GPS software I've ever seen and used, paid or free.
Also, since Google Maps is run through your phone's network connection, there is never a need to update your map data. It also handles recalculating and rerouting based on toll roads and bad traffic. It's been VERY accurate for me as far as what time I would arrive somewhere. And most impressively, you don't need an address to get guidance. Once I used voice commands for it and said, "Navigate to Racer's Edge Tuning" and it knew exactly where it was (obviously picked up from Google's search engine) and started my navigation.
