Default Preparing for arrival

My TPW is 4/14!...YEAH!
Decided to have the garage floor professionally prepared and coated.
Brown/tan/mica flake....stunning! Installed a "Container Store" garage wall system, powder coated grey. Starting to come together......
more pics when I can actually get back into the garage

Thanks
Hired a local company to handle it correctly:
Supply and install our 5 coat 100% solids industrial strength epoxy polymer system. This consists of 2 base coats of industrial strength epoxy polymer, 1 full chip coat - [ the color will be "Chestnut with Mica" ] and 2 clear coats of our 100% solids polyhybrid gloss finish. The floor will be chemically resistant and UV stable. The finish will be seamless, highly durable and simple to clean.

What kind of prep did they do before putting on the first coat?

Here's the description of the entire process..3 men 2 full days:
Garage Floor: [ The scope of work will include the foundation stem walls ]

Grind concrete as needed to remove the existing cream layer and surface soil. This will open the pores of the concrete to accept the coatings. [ This will allow the base coating to penetrate deep into the concrete for an unbreakable bond. Hot tires will not compromise the finish ] Repair cracks and divots with polymer modified epoxy compound to smooth out the floor.

Please note that we will bring the coating out beyond the garage door and over the lip of the apron to provide the finished look of a slab. This gives the floor a strong and pleasing appearance.

There are several major factors that influence the strength of a floor coating. First, the ability of the coating to penetrate into the pores of the concrete for an unbreakable bond is critical. This will allow the coating to remain secure especially under the trial of hot tires. Second is the solids content of the epoxy polymer - the higher the solids content, the stronger the coating will be. We use 100% solids, so it is the strongest available. Third is mil thickness, that is the reason we apply 2 base coats and then gain more strength and durability by broadcasting a complete and full coat of poly acetate vinyl paint chips.

The work will take 2 days to complete. You will be able to walk on the floor the following day. Please wait 48 hours before parking any cars on the floor.
