i rear ended an suv today, and smashed my grille and front end in. turns out the owner of repair shop i went to owns the same exact corvette as i do (amazing how my treatment improved when the people there found out what car i had.) so, im going to ask him to "throw in" the stripping to blacken the grille, prior to installing the new one.
a bit circuitous, i know, but im the glass is always a 1/4 full kinda guy. and for 6-8k in repairs, im thinking as a fellow cg (with black wheels)vetter, he will do that. i will also task him if hes on the forum. if so he ll probably do the entire job for free, unless hes one of the many who avoid me at this point. i know, i wont tell him my handle.

Sorry to hear this. I'd of blacked out that strip for far less - say only $1K. I am glad to hear you are taking the whole event in stride and looking forward to the future and doing a "RESET" on the experience.
Are you that same 88 year old lady that rear ended a C7 a couple of weeks go. As this forum knows, only old people rear end other people's cars. That's why you should have your driver's license taken away, you old POS old lady.

WTF??
I certainly hope you were joking. I give dofuss credit for not being too ashamed to admit it here on the forum. Most here wouldn't admit that.
Sorry to hear of the accident. Best of luck with the repairs.
thanks, Jack. im not sure i ll have it repaired right away. this is actually my fourth accident--the others were just small dents and paint chipping/scratching. maybe i ll wait a while and consolidate the repairs. truth is im not a great driver (im easily distracted, particularly at slower speeds)....but i do feel a responsibility to the forum to keep the car looking relatively good, so as not to reflect negatively upon other owners.
ps: dont tell the others that im not the 88 year old lady that hit that guy the other day--theyre having too much fun with that. let them enjoy it.
Glad to hear you are blackening out the front grille. Me too when mine arrives next week. The car will look about 100% better. That "silver brace" drives me crazy. It just looks out of place.
Sorry to hear that-long as no body was hurt just chalk it up to part of life's long ride (pun intended)
Kind of surprised you wanted the grill blacked out, as from prior posts you had indicated that you wanted the silver wheels instead of the black wheels you have. Have you given up on the silver wheels as I would think they go hand in hand with the grill.
