Take it to Discount Tire, they are good and it might not cost you a dime. They fixed my wife's Michelin tire which was " screwed " like yours and balanced it for free.
You are (sorta) lucky! This happened to my then new 1990 ZR-1 with 200 miles on it but at outside of tread. Not repairable, took over a week to get 315 wide tire in to GY dealer. Expensive.
Thanks guys...I was getting really depressed at the quotes I was receiving. The Chevy dealer said, "we don't recommend it" but I realize they are financially motivated on a few levels to replace rather than repair.
I have a Discount tire down the street from me...at least in this thing it shouldn't take long to get someone to look at it.
Buy a patch kit and diy - I did on my old GS and drove for another 10k miles without a problem. I think it was even in the same spot as yours.
Unless it is patched from the inside, it isn't correct. The only truly safe way to patch a tire (especially a high performance tire that sees more than its share of stress) is inside.
For the sake of a couple of extra dollars, why would anyone not do it correctly?

I do know that much about the patch, that I would want it done from the inside...a little more time, but worth the piece of mind.

My wife's 2013 Buick LaCrosse had the same thing on Friday and because I have bought and have other cars that have Discount Tires on them they repaired it for free !!!! Wayne
As a few people mentioned, Discount Tire confirmed that they can in fact patch the tire due to the location AND will do so for FREE.
Funny though that the Chevy dealer was strongly against it.
I also spoke with Michelin Customer Service. Though the girl on the phone sounded like she knew as much about my tire as my wife would, she did confirm that if Discount Tire (authorized dealer) confirmed it NEEDED to be replaced, that they would arrange for a discount replacement.
At first she quoted a few canned responses, but when I pressed her she said they will usually sell it for 50% off.

And discount tire confirmed an interior tire patch is how they will patch it and would be the only way to go on this tire...
