If it was on a normal car that would never see high speeds and or hard cornering, I would say patch it by the best means possible, but since this is a new Vette or any Vette for that matter, I personally would replace it for the piece of mind. With a patch, I would always err on the side of being too conservative and spoil the drive.
IMHO, unless you are going to put the car on a raod coarse then you will be fine with a plug and inside hot patch method. If you plan to put it on a road coarse then you must buy a new tire to ensure your safety.
I have no plans to ever track the car, but if I had, I wouldn't hesitate to replace this tire.
I had not one but TWO nails in my rear driver side with less than 1000 miles on the car. Patched it up and a few thousand miles later it has not given me any issue.
It is recommended to only patch these tires ONE TIME. Were those nails close together requiring only one patch?
Agreed! I would take the wheel off the car, throw it in the truck of my other car, drive it to Discount Tire and watch them like a hawk.
I'm not sure I'll go that far...I'll have a chat with them up front and watch them until I'm comfortable, but my experience thus far is guys are blown away by this car and will likely have on the kid gloves...there comes a point when you have to trust them to do there job.
