Default Paint Quality

Went to look at another Stingray coupe yesterday. AW Z51 loaded with all the things I would want. Dealer has had it for at least two weeks. Considered making an offer instead of waiting for a used one but the paint was just awful. How many have had luck using a light polish/compounding to at least reduce some of the orange peel?

depends on how much you want to get off - I got rid of 80% of it - took 22 hours of work....search "orange peel"..."light" polish will not do much

Did you have any issues with burn through. Modern factory paint is thin.

In sunlight, my Torch Red coupe has round areas about the size of a silver dollar that look dull, but it appears it is in the color coat, not the clear coat. Guess I will leave it alone, and keep as much factory paint on the car as I can...

Just picked up my NRB vert on Thursday. To my amazement the paint is really good, surprised after reading all the complaints. I do have a scratch in the clear coat on the top of the drivers door, very minor and probably will polish out. I am totally pleased.
