replaced tire

Ran over a 3" piece of steel and had to replace tire. $580 tire, balance,etc. Dealer said I was lucky I only had 1500 miles on car otherwise I would have had to replace both tires. Z51 1LT.

I don't know if everyone knows it ( won't help OP) but when your car is new you can get discount tire warranty on the tires with replace certificates for the tires on your Vette. I know you have a tire warranty from the tire manufacturer but I wanted to make sure my tires would be covered ..just in case! The replacement warranty certificates are not cheap though ($60 dollars a tire) but if you have to replace it could save you some money.

Discount Tire will patch your tire for free as well, if it's possible. Not sure if anyone mentioned that.

If you are paying $1K for a rear tire (or any tire for that matter), you are getting screwed.

I can laugh at this now because of you guys, because i got real helpful advice and the situation was lightened and previews of wha the true cost of the tires were so i wouldn't screw myself out of money. I just threw 1000 out there because i know how expensive this rubber can be and as long as i overshot the price i wouldn't be shellshocked when the real price if the tire was replaced would have been.

I rather overshoot my price estimate then undershoot.

O BTW the description of the bolt was a 747 bolt and it was straight in.

Now to my next adventure which is next thursday i am having the roof and seals looked at. Will keep posted with that
