Shouldn't be a problem to patch the center of the tire, unless it's a large diameter bolt?

Don't sweat it

Proper repair is a combination patch/plug (and only after the tire is examined to make sure there is no structural damage):

Michelin (and other manufacturers) run flat repair recommendations:

Wheel and tire warranty... Yes it cost you $700 but you'd spend $400 on one tire if you had to replace it.

Cost for a new one is way less than $1000 (this is the Z51 tire):

It still has or had 24 psi in the tire but i only noticed because it was 10 less than the other 3. I received an onstar report telling me with a low air warning but i dont think the vette tells you ntil 20 psi or at least that was the threshhold for my 08. This just makes me mad because i didnt run any major road hazard item another thing is the entire way to the dealership the psi increased so it tells of a small leak that happens when the car sits. I was never offered a tire and wheel warranty. I know they weren't offered on my c6 for the eagle f1 emts

That sounds like an easy inside patch. Find a Discount Tire, get the tire patched and buy their tire warranty for about $50/tire so you never have to worry about it again.

The one extra I sprung for while sitting in the finance office. And sure enough, not even 700 miles down and my rear tire has a penetrating injury.

Drove to dealer with warranty papers and it was replaced, not repaired.
And WHEN it happens again, it will have more than paid for itself.

I have 2 patches on the same tire. Dealer may patch one time, but second time I went to a local proprietor. Both instances, I caught it before the tire deflated. First one happened right before I pulled into my garage (thought I had an air suspension!). Second one was a screw that I noticed as I was doing a walk around. I think the key is not to drive on it once you notice the drop in air pressure, unless you need to. Otherwise, if you drive on it and utilize the run-flat feature, the inner sidewall will sustain damage and the tire will need to be replaced.

Don't feel too bad. About a thousand years ago I owned a Nissan 300ZX and was cruising down the road behind a junky old pickup truck when a bucket blew out of the back end of his pickup and hit my hood and also windshield going about 65 mph. I can't even put into nice language how I felt. I could have "strangled him". But of course he never even saw it happen and never even stopped.

I have no idea where you live so there may not be a Discount Tire near you but trust me, they have everything needed and the experience to deal with any runflat issue.

Glad the dealer was able to make things right. I hesitate going to the dealer for tires, it's not their core competency. I like specialists. But, if you live in BFE then they may be your next best choice.

I can close this post with a smile. Tire was patched and cost was minimal compared to buying another tire. From the look at the bolt as I had a clear view of it in the driveway it was a hex bolt with a big head. I thought the hole would be way too big to patch. Luckily it was in the first deep groove to the outside.

I got frustrated because with 700 miles and already thinking I needed a new tire because I know patching runflats can be frowned upon.

But its people like that who don't secure their s*** which causes road hazards such as this bolt. It angers me that people don't care about others around them.
