Take a look at a 15 and 16 side by side with the roof off. You'll see the answer quickly. The problem isn't the top.
I have a 16 and it creaks. That's not the fix.

Perhaps you have an early one. I've seen no less than 20 with the new hardware that are creak free.

So there's a difference between the hardware on early 16's and later 16's?

My roof has a beveled rubber groment on each front pin. So adding more rubber washers didnt do anything. I think I have the proper ones and none missing. The more I look at this I find that this is a floating roof and will flex and move with body flex and some bumps. But shouldnt make all the noise mine does. The rubber groments on the pins seem to compress a bit when you close the front levers so you know that they are doing what suppose to.

I'm merely suggesting that its possible based on the fact that It's been the last few weeks that I've noticed the different pieces.

Look at your strikers and see if they have a textured finish. The new pieces are a smoother and slicker paint. The old ones were a rough texture with considerable grit.

I'm not doubting that. I'm just pointing out hardware differences that I've seen between MY15 and MY16 vehicles. If I've noticed hardware replacements, I'm lead to believe that it was more than just a washer to quell the problem that so many have.

This is the fix!! we all just have to be patient a little longer. The plant engineeres are on this they have been validating this part as the correction to the problem we are all having. The part recently went to the assembly line to be installed on all coupes going forward. I can not wait to drive this car again with no noise from the top

The top latches much tighter as well. At least in the front.

I think you are right. My dealer ordered latches and strikers. They are now on indefinite backorder. That usually indicates redesign. I hope so and that the redesign stops the noise.

The rattle is not isolated to the transparent top.

Mine is totally quite after a little silicone grease and I pretty much love most everything about the car.

Parts came in to dealer on 9/17. Can't get to dealer until 9/29. Will post how the repair worked after that. Will also post the parts list.

I was told its all normal, part of the experience. Some will tell you dont look closely at those things and you'll be fine.

Whats the next suggestion? Earplugs?

Maybe GM has figured that since the average age of C7 buyers is probably approaching AARP age that we won't hear the snaps, crackles and pops.

Well, today, 9/29, was repair day. The dealer called the parts "a kit." They replaced the handles, the handle plates, the washers that go on the handle bolts, and the handle bolts. No strikers. the top is quiet. With the number of folks reporting replaced strikers, it will be interesting to see if this repair will last. It was pretty hot driving home and no noise. It was also interesting to see that they reported using four handle bolts and four handle bolt washers. I think everyone knows there are only two handle bolts.

List of parts:
1 22759395 Handle (left)
1 22759396 Handle (right)
1 10336171 Plate (left handle)
1 10336170 Plate (right handle)
4 11588888 Washer (handle both sides)
4 11561339 Bolt (handle both sides)

So there it is. Time will tell whether it works.

Thanks for the info. Let us know if your noise comes back. When I tried the rubber washers my roof was quite for about two days.

Ok these are the new production parts listed in the new tsb for coupe creaking/ popping roof fix

Left hand receiver 23374302.
Right hand receiver 23374303.
Pins for roof..23412818

The repair was made to my car last week at Mac Mulkin ..The car is now dead silent....I suggest anyone battling this problem as I was go have these newly designed strikers and pins be installed on your car. What a pleasure to drive again...Thank you to Paul (talon90) a great friend and contributor to the Corvette forum.
The new parts have a totally different finish to them.

My car was built on 9/15 and I heard the squeak/rattle for the first time this morning after putting the roof back on. Considering my car was just built are these parts different from what was put on in BG? Or are these different parts? Thanks!
