Default Any REV Match Issues?

Twice I have been locked out of 2nd gear downshifting while in Rev Match Mode. I get a nice gear grinding sound, yet if I hit the paddle and turn Rev Match off it shifts fine back into 2nd gear. Again only has happened twice. Just wondering if anyone else has had this problem. Vehicle is a Z51, NPP, MRC, obviously 7 speed manual.

No issues with mine. There are a lot of parameters the computer is sampling and a learning curve for the operator. I have discovered vehicle speed, braking and the speed of the actual shift determine the throttle response. I have been turning my system off and on as applicable.

I have this turned on ALL of the time around town and have not had a single problem. The only "issue" I've had is sometimes it holds the revs too high upshifting into second... almost like the car doesn't let the revs fall fast enough. Never an issue downshifting.

I have had the exact same "issue", with the engine a bit too fast for the vehicle speed on a 1 - 2 shift with rev match on, during a low RPM shift (< ~3500). I was wondering if it was unique to my car. It seems if I wait just a little longer before dropping the clutch it syncs up better. If it is a spirited and rapid up-shift with the RPM above about 3500 it doesn't seem to happen, or be as noticeable.

Compared similar systems in other cars, I feel like our Rev Match is too slow. When I downshift, I feel like it's a bit slow on the throttle blip. Heading to Ron Fellows next week so I'll have another car to compare mine to.

my only issue w/ rev matching is accidentally either smacking the paddles or getting my finger jammed between the paddle and wheel...usually when I'm making a low speed sharp turn using hand over hand...ala parking lot, driveway, etc. usually causing autmatic reaction of jerk my hand away from the wheel..which is the last thing you want in that situation.

I have always practiced rev matching the old school way. So I really don't use the system too much. Coincidently though, I did use it today just for the hell of it. I found that it worked great. It accurately set the RPMs for a smooth shift every time. I was horsing around in Track mode and the rev match produces a thunderous little growl (NPP) especially in the lower gears. But, after satisfying myself that all was in order, I went back to old school!

I noticed a little bit of a surge sometimes if your just taking it out of gear and going to neutral, it is always looking to rev match when you take it out of gear even if your going to neutral.

Overall though I would say it is one of my favorite features of the car I leave it on all the time.

I'm kind of up in the air with a car having a rev match feature. The idea for a manual trany is that the operator is in full control of the car. I just use my right foot to rev match my Shelby. Works fine and it's fun and with a blip of the accelerator gets the job done and sounds great. If you are having trouble with this feature turn it off and try it old school.

I don't use it as I learned to rev match as a teenager and have always done my own shifting and rev matching. I have turned it on a few times and I don't much like it.

Just returned from a session at Ron Fellows T Spring Mountain. While they teach the "heel and toe" method, they don't have any problem with students using rev match. I used it for every track session, probably in 8 different C7's, never a single issue in any car.

I've done it so many times now I want to shave down the paddles a bit. i don't see why they have to stick out so much when all that needs to be done is push them from behind while driving straight ahead....kinda over-the-top for a car that is not a dedicated race car.

Default Rev match over rev between 1 and 2nd gears.

i have had the same 'issue' between 1st and 2nd. Others I have talked to have said the same. Would be a good question for the corvette engineers why it was designed that way- or do we all have a problem.

Mine needs to be adjusted if it's possible. When I'm using it and downshift the RPM's are to high.So I stopped using it.I just do it manually that's
What I've been doing for years with other cars.

Been using Rev Match ~100% of the time for what will be 2 years next month! Love it! Found a few things I had to unlearn however:
Recently responding to a question on the forum I've heard from time to time, over revving, - I was in 5th and was going to downshift to 3rd but I purposely put the shift lever all the way over to the 1st/2nd gate slot. Did not move into either gear but the revs increased as if I was going into 2nd! The Hall sensor sends a signal to the computer and it anticipates what you plan to do! Not sure if that is the issue in your case but must be careful where you put the shift lever, even in the neutral slot!
The second item, I had to break and old habit. When downshifting and skipping a gear in my C6 and prior cars I would depress the clutch and while depressed put the lever into the skipped gear before going in to the gear where I planned to release the clutch. Might even do that when coming to a stoplight. Helps spool up a gear cluster. Read early on Not To Do That as it confuses the system! It said could cause damage (not sure why.) The Tremec trans has triple syncros in most gears, some carbon faced, they will spool up the gears easily, as needed!
Side Issue: Like those who mentioned rev matching themselves -I did as well and almost all my DD's have been standard shifts: The 1st, my 3 speed '41 Ford opera coupe when I was 17, my '50 Ford coupe, modified Corvairs, 260Z, CJ5 Jeep, my first 7 speed, a '84 Dodge Colt Turbo (similar to the Doug Nash two speed overdrive in my '87 Vette, also had 7 speeds,) my '93 Vette, two trucks between Vettes and my C6! Always heel/toed even when the peddles were not conducive to making it easy. Pretty good at higher rpm downshifts, not hard to stab the throttle! However with my C6, for example, I used heel/toe almost every downshift; it is much harder to modulate the throttle at lower rpms and get a good match. Rev match does it perfectly, everytime! Even at 72 it's fun to learn new tricks!

I agree. If I'm driving in an aggressive manner, and shifting rapidly, I can beat the rev match. Other than that, however, I haven't noticed any problems.

Do it all the time from 3rd to 2nd just to practice. Never experienced what you are describing.

All the comments about double clutching are correct. I used the wrong acronym for rev matching but I think everybody understood what I was talking about.

Love the ARM. After driving the C7 both ways for a bit, I now automatically pull the paddle and glance at the gear indicator as part of my startup. Wish there was an easy option to have it come on all the time.
