I never keep a car more than 2 years (NEVER), but this C7 is different, WAY different. If I do not wreck her (heaven forbid), or she does not turn into a lemon (all fingers & toes crossed), I believe I have finally found the automobile I will still own YEARS from now. She is not only a work of art, but is about as perfect as a sports car gets (for me anyway)....
I'm not a typical long term keeper either....(66 cars to date). My car buddies even joke about it and bet on how long my cars will stay in the stable. This one pushes all my buttons though....I may surprise them all and own this one for awhile!
Guess I am the opposite. I skipped a whole generation and finally sold my 10 year old Z06 to get a Stingray...
If it turns out to be as good a car, I may skip another generation...
It definitely has a lot more electronics to deal with...
I will have mine a while - my C6 & C5 were year two cars and they survived until the next generation - I expect that unless the C7 is around for more than 8 years, I will have it until the C8 is released.
My Corvette's are garage queens that see less than 2,000 miles a year, so there is no real rush to replace them. All our other cars are 36 month leases, so they turn over regularly.
My family and friends tell me the same thing. I've lost every bet where they say I won't keep my cars for a year. I too feel this one is different. We'll see!
I don't want to get rid of it since this car was built for me and has been the most special car I have ever gotten. I will eventually make this a garage keeper and buy another car for everyday use. Unless I get a promotion and make a lot more money then I will get the z06. But I got rid of one vette and regretted it and will refuse to separate myself yet again
My C7 is my retirement gift to me an may be the last new car I ever buy. I've had her now for a week and it has exceeded my expectations. It's my first Corvette but not my first performance car - I've had several over the years but this car is impressive in almost every important category - looks, performance, handling, even gas mileage. Never say never however.
I tend to buy new and keep for 200,000 miles or 10 years. The only exception to this was my '09 Z06 (which I wasn't in the market for, but it was such a steal, I couldn't resist). I drove that car for four years and 70,000 miles, and got only $18,000 less than I paid for it new, which was the plan from the start.
I anticipate this to be the same as my norm, even though it is a Premiere Edition. But, hey, ten years is a long time to predict!
