Talked to an installer in NJ yesterday and he wants $1,300 for a full front bumper, partial hood and fenders, side mirrors and headlamps. That seems high. What are your experiences? The installer has a good reputation and claims he needs the car for 24-48 hours for proper drying and sealing. Thoughts?
Thanks,
John

Sounds good to me. I paid around 2k for full front end, full hood and fenders and headlamps and mirrors and he had the car for a few days.

Be sure to understand that Xpel does offer multiple kinds of film and the ultimate which you are thinking about installing is their higher end film.

one days work, I would suggest adding a piece to push the rear hatch shut and do the whole hood. I paid 1250 and did whole hood both front fenders, rockers, flare on 1/4s, mirrors, lights, door cup openings. Two days sounds like joyride to me personally, or low skill level.

Front bumper and grill, front half of hood and fenders, mirrors--$675. Xpel.
48 hours ?? Are there any local drag strips open then? LOL
My installer came over and set up shop in my garage. Took about 7 hours.
He covered each piece of the grill. Yikes, I could not do that.

Seems like prices vary depending on region. I paid $1055 for front nose, full hood, mirrors & headlights including opti coat application w/ prep...

Whichever route the OP goes...

GET THE ROCKERS AND QUARTER PANELS COVERED TOO OR YOU WILL REGRET IT.

Bargain with him. Seems each installer has some leeway in the pricing.

From my experience, the price sounds about right for all the areas being covered.
As far as the 24 hours etc to get it done Properly .. Others may feel differently.
But, I found that any of the High end ( qualified ) installers I contacted all mentioned that to me and explained why in detail.
The installers I talked with clean and prep the car extensively.
They have a Controlled Clean environment to work in.
They like to have the car sit for a certain period of time out of the elements after the install for it to settle and adhere properly as you already mentioned.
It made a lot of sense to me what they had to say when compared to some other installers I talked with
IMO, the quality of the material is important.
But the expertize of the installer accounts for 95% of the quality of the install and how it will look and last.
YMMV - just my 2 cents for what it's worth

Thanks for the reply. I agree that it is all about the installer.

I paid about 7-800 for that much coverage from an installer recommended by the XPel rep here on the forum. Took less than 24 hours to do the full install (including drying), and the guy even offered to give me a ride to get the car since I wasn't sure if a family member was going to be available to do so.

I got a quote from another installer closer to the NCM that was about what you got quoted. Message up the XPel rep on here and ask for recommended installers in your area.

By the way, good choice on doing the partial hood / fenders, the shape of the car really doesn't require the full hood / fender coverage, especially if you've got a set of the GM splash guards installed (which I highly recommend).
