I'm very concerned about potential curb damage to the front bumper also, however, I'm more than hesitant to have anyone splice into any of the wiring of my new car

Front cameras do not work so well as the lens gets mucked up every time you drive anywhere. You'd be amazed at what is at ground level on our roadways. Diesel fuel, tar, bugs, sludge, crap, rain, mud and everything else you can think of. You will be continually wiping the lens off.
I cannot overstate the importance of having a set of "fangs" under your front bumper if you are worried about damage. I have had a set for every Corvette I have owned. Why GM doesn't install something like this is mind-boggling! They take all of about ten minutes to install. Anyone can do it. And no, I do not know anyone with this company...just sharing info on a "must have" product!!!
