Back in January I made the short trip to a local Chevrolet dealership to look over the new Chevrolet SS they had in the show room.
What I found on this vehicle might be something for the manufactures to start doing and that is to offer very few options. Sunroof & spare tire are the only two offered on this model. I ended up buying the one they had on display which had the sunroof option, but not the spare tire. I have a kit to fix a flat instead.
There's always roadside assistance, so a flat doesn't worry me. This vehicle is loaded. Backup camera, forward & side warnings, auto parallel parking assist, nav., lots of leather & suede. It has the 6 spd auto transmission with paddle shifts & the LS3 engine rated at 415 hp. Very nice performance & handling for a 4 door sedan the size of an Impala.
Take this for whatever it is worth. At Bloomington Gold a Corvette marketing guy announced:
No price increase of the base model
Z51 price would go up, NNP is included
A8 price would go up.
It is not worth much. The base price will go up, it is just a question of is it: $1,000, $1,500 or $2,000 - I am betting $2,000.
The Z51 price will go up $1,700 and include NPP, so it is now a $5,500 option.
The A8, assuming it returns the 31 mpg highway rating we expect, will be priced at or below its current $$1,350 - because EPA mileage is that important to GM.

It looks like someone has never bought a Japanese car before - Acura, Honda, Infinity, Lexus, Nissan and Mazda typically offer their mass-market cars in 1-3 trim levels (which dictate standard features) with zero options, and have been doing so since the 1970's. In fact, all Acura's only come with just two trim levels, and 75% of their sales are of the standard trim level.

That's correct. I haven't had a *** car since I had a 1968 Datsun Fairlady 1600 sports car. My father almost disowned me for buying it. Being a WW II Navy veteran, who lost 200 of his fellow shipmates to a Kamikaze attack on his ship (USS Belleau Wood, CVL-24), he wasn't to partial to anything Japanese.
I'm kind of surprised they haven't announced the pricing yet. We're less than a month away from production starting and from what I've read in the past it was always released by now.
They have been running all types of clearance specials all over the country. In South Florida it has been 72 months 0% financing.
They extended that sale until the 21st of July. I am not sure if it extends to vets, but I would imagine by Friday the 25th of July they will release prices.
A number of dealers still have stock.
If the price increase is small, many would pass on a 2014 and go for the 2015.
History shows that there will be a small increase in price. If not, then we would still be paying $3,500 for the car. 1968 paid $4,400 for a vert, 1998 paid $44,750 for a coupe, that's a ten fold increase in 30 years, about $1,400 a year, I don't think 2015 will be any different.
The car is a winner and the market will tolerate at least a modest bump. Some folks wee paying MSRP+ on the 2014s.
Canadian buyer here. I ordered a 2015 Z51 coupe based on the 2014 order guide knowing at the time only the change in the auto to 8 speed was certain. I am paying MSRP for base + options - which means I paid for NPP and the Nav. Cost for the A8 is based on the A6. I wanted to get into the queue sooner rather than later.
Talked to my salesman when the 2015 order guide came out. Because I have paid for the NPP but not for the A8 (diff between A6 & A8) or the PDR (now standard with Nav) he thinks any price increase for me will be absorbed/offset and it will be a wash.
Sadly I am still at status 1100 after a month and have no idea when the truth will be known price-wise.
I bought a loaded to the gills 1979 Trans Am with a list price that used 2 window stickers to show all the options $9,989 MSRP
By 1985 a similar car had an MSRP of over $16,000
My money market account was paying an incredible 20.2% interest rate.
Today if I left my money in my brokerage cash account I get a fantastic .04% interest rate and that is annual.
The point is with interest rates as low as they are and inflation at about 2%, the price increase will be minimal.
Where they will get you is on the new nav option, 4G, and maybe $300-$400 for the A8
The npp will increase the Z51 option by the same cost of the option. Changes to the LT3 package will go up because of the nav update and the interior addition.
My dealer called last night to tell me he had an allocation for a 2015, but the order had to be placed in 48 hrs. I told him I hadn't firmed up my wish list but I thought I had time after the order to revise some details, He said in this case no. I asked about pricing. He said he could get a verbal price from someone up in the chain, but nothing on paper. And this dealer does not recognize any discounts on Corvettes; no supplier, employee, or credit union discount. I feel like I have a gun to my head on this deal.

A tad off topic but I just want to chime in to say we can post to this forum today with the freedom we have because of the sacrifices your father endured.
To all veterans who served in the World Wars and the conflicts since plus those brave men and women keeping us safe and free today, a very sincere and heartfelt THANK YOU.

I read many replies where people do not want to buy until they have the final firm price. You are buying a $70,000 car. If the price goes up $3,000 and that is more than you can afford, you should not be buying a car in that price range in the first place.
My father was a car dealer and i became one as well. I was brought up in the era that the cars on the used car lot had there speedometers either reset to 0 or set to what the car looked like it should have.
Today things are different, there are laws to protect customers.
When I buy a new car before the price is available, I first negotiate off MSRP. I agree to pay the new MSRP less the agreed discount if any.
If there is a trade that is a separate item and negotiated after the new car price is agreed to.
Most people do not want to hear the wholesale price of their trade so they incorporate any discount into the trade value.
Keep this in mind the 2015 model will have a higher production meaning more cars to the dealers. Think of it this way a some dealers were selling 2013 models last year for invoice less 2%. That is about $7-10,000 off MSRp.
I ordered from one of the top 100 dealers my 2015 C7 Z51 A8 MSRP less $2,500 with no trade.
I am at 3000 and TPW is 8/11. The same dealer will sell most at MSRP but if you do a good job negotiating you could probably could do better than I did.
Ordering a car with a big discount from a small dealer that has no allocation will not get you a car, just a lot of aggravation or a real long wait.

He is wrong... Not sure what package you are getting, but if he even hinted to you that you would come out even 2014-15 he is dreaming... A Z51 base 1LT will go up probably 3K from 2014, auto will likely be a bit more, and the Nav will go up in price as well... Yes, you factored in the $1255 exhaust, but count on at least 3K on a 1LT, and more on a 3LT(suede interior is included, not optional, if you don't take it, it will not be a credit). Our first 2015 Z51 is being built the week of August 11, it would be nice to be able to give the owner the price, firm...

Maybe GM developed the eight speed for better performance and fuel economy at a cost of millions, but most importantly, they wanted to be extra nice to us and give it to us at no addition cost over the six speed.
GM does not have to justify a price increase. There can be one - simply because they can get away with it.
I expect the following increases:
All Z51 will see a price increa$e; as it now includes the NPP. If ones intentions for a '15 were to get the Z51 and the NPP anyways; this increase may not apply.
The NAV upgrade for 1 & 2LT interiors will increa$e due to the PDR addition that is now included. This may also raise the price of the 3LT (since it includes the NAV).
A8 automatic trans:
on one hand I'd be surprised there isn't an increa$e over the A6 option of 2014. But, on the other hand, I find the A6 auto-trans option to be somwehat pricey to begin with. I guess there's a chance GM had the A6 option price already at the A8 needed price... to help fund the A8 R&D and mfgring. If this is the case, there might not be an increase... as the A6 option price might have been at the A8 price all along.

You make a good point on the A8, and someone else also mentioned that they might want to direct sales in that direction for CAFE and so will try to make it an attractive option, so perhaps that option will stay pretty close. Really pennies on the dollar anyway, in the grand scheme. I expect a base price increase of equivalent to the mid year increase, plus whatever changes due to options becoming standard, and the data recorder in the nav.... I am not familiar with costs on that option with other manufacturers, or if it is even offered at all by others, so not sure what to expect there....

I never thought of it like this, but you may be on to something. The current A6 has been bought and paid for years ago and I'm fairly certain it's been "making" money for GM to use for the R&D of the A8. So I would be surprised to see the A8 costing more than the out going A6.
That is unless GM knowing 60% of all Stingray's (and likely to increase) are ordered/bought with automatic transmissions will be a cash cow for them so why not rape the buyers.

Hi TOVetteFan.
Bought from Mike Jackson here in Collingwood. Did up bill of sale for 2015 Crystal Red 2LT coupe w/Z51, NPP, Nav and Mag Ride. So, I basically have NPP, ERI, FE4, IO6/UQT, M5U, Z51. With the RWH LPO cover, I come in at $73K before tax, extended warranty and protection stuff. You are thinking that cost will increase above that? I think I am still at 1100, so no idea if GM has accepted for status 2000. Sales guy says he will not have any update on potential build week until well into August. He suspects delivery in December.

If it were me, I'd build in a $3K increase and if it comes in under you have some MOD money. Or money for All Season Tires.

$1350 for the A6 is kinda steep IMO. Heck, it use to be that the auto was "free" ... and the manual tranny was $$$
