I think you are looking into the future of Corvette. I think the C8 will be a hybrid engine, and have lines similar to what you see here. You can flame me, but the next generation Corvette will be smaller and I think mid-engine.

It may be far fetched to think of the Vette like that now, but in 5-7 years when the new generation is ready, who knows what they will come up with. Probably not one that runs on salt water, but some form of hybrid could very well be an engine option.
