With over 30,000 C7s on the road there will be some with broken windshields from rocks. Glass breakage from rocks isn't a defect.

Wrong. This varies by state, with some states requiring glass coverage with no deductible and others not.

And what are "fog sensors?"

I'm in CA insured by Farmers (Mid Century). Haven't had to use it yet but I have broken glass coverage with $100 deductible.

Everyone, Here's a few tips on replacing the front windshield....

*Safe-lite, sure that's about the only guys that are constantly replacing windshields, give them a call.

*OEM vs. Safe-lite or other brands, ONLY go with the GM branded windshield all the other DO NOT have the alignment pins that the GM brand DOES have to set in the windshield & the installers need all the help they can get!!

*Removal, if they use a ratcheting cutting string that sucker mounts to the windshield for removal, get up there *** with a power drill, because there's fiberglass at the bottom where the windshield is glued & the string will just as easy begin cutting into the fiberglass as well the glue.

*Installation, if you have a coupe more than likely you'll be removing the top for removal & install. As soon as the new windshield goes on, the top needs to be installed & latched so the windshield can be set to the proper distance from the frame. I have yet to get a windshield set without having a lip where the glass meets the top. Furthermore there is an unknown with the way the gaskets seal but, best guess is that the distance the windshield is to the frame becomes critical in the gaskets ability to create a watertight seal. If the main gasket has any gap between itself & the windshield edge along the top, water will run to the door a pillar & runs down the inside of the a pillar & into the kick panel area.

* I would suggest you go look at another C7 that has the original windshield & take pictures so you can show this to you installer when he doesn't set the windshield in far enough. Because a few minutes after setting the windshield that's it, it set & won't move.

I'm on my 3rd windshield & it's the closest so far but still not completely flush with the top...

Good luck!
