Navagation for 2015
I was told by my local dealer that in order to get a navigation system for 2015 you will need to purchase the Data Performance Recorder combined for an additional $1,795 and that navigation cant be purchased separately. I don't see the value in $1,795 just for navigation as I don't see myself running the vehicle on a race track to record performance stats. Very disappointing.
I did however order the vehicle and I,m looking forward to owning my 1st Corvette.

Thanks- your correct. but now as I become more educated I have concerns about production and Z51 constraints. I need to ask the dealer about how many cars he was allocated and how many were already accepted by GM!

I'd look at it a different way, the PDR is $1795 and you get Nav for free, that way you don't feel cheated by how bad the Nav really is.

Package deal, can't get one without the other. Kind of like black and blue, like how they are beating us up. I think that GM is sometimes run by Jim Carey and Jeff Daniels. What could they possibly be thinking? Just left $700 on the table by not having Nav. for those who want it. PDR should be a PERFORMANCE option, not something that the guy who orders a Vert with 3lt for crusing will want. Forrest Gump has a saying for this "Stupid is as stupid does."

I just don't understand why you guys are downing the navigation system. Saying an iPhone/hand held is better? I see people placing their hand held units in the hidden compartment, using that instead of the built in unit???? The iPhone is ok for planning purposes, it doesn't remotely compare to the on-board system. With the on-board system, route turns are warned in plenty of time and the distance is counted down on the HUD in feet. OnStar will even load the destination if wanted/needed. At the destination a checkered flag appears! (I know a wiz thing).

We're dissing it because compared to systems in other cars it's probably the worst.
I know the Garmin based system in my 2014 Ram pickup is literally 10 times faster taking inputs, has a much more robust POI system and a far more intuitive data input system. I can also superimpose the maps on the media screen without losing any data from the media while I get a smaller, 3" wide window of a map. It also displays routing instructions on the DIC (Driver Information Console) and has full voice interaction. Oh, and it was only a $500 option that can be added to any 8.4A radio even after it's built and on the dealer's lot (Note: the optional radio add has a few less features because the 8.4A radio only has an 8GB memory system while the 8.4AN has 16GB).
Even that is 3 times more expensive than a top end dash top unit but I'm willing to pay for the integration and continuity an in-dash unit has.

All these people complaining about the nav are probably the same folk that were upset that there's no CD player. The C7 nav is great from what I've seen. It's even better if you hav HUD, as upcoming turns show on the windshield. People preferring a Garmin or phone in the cubby over the stock nav unit are smoking something. But to the OP, yes it's bundled with PDR for 2015. Dumb idea on GM's part imo. On 2014's nav was $795.
BTW, I am not one of those comparing it to a dashtop unit or a smart phone, I'm comparing it to what is installed in other car company dash boards.
People also have a very short memory. In dash Nav units were $2000 as little as 3 or 4 years ago on most luxury or high end cars. Now, for that money you get a full blown Performance Data Recorder.

I'm having a hard time accepting that you must get PDR if you want NAV. I have 2 -2015option lists from 2 dealers that show the NAV available w/o PDR for $795.
Makes no sense to me that GM would make us pay an extra $1000- for something that most of us will never use. Or do they want to reduce the number of nav systems that they sell.

What's the problem? In the C6 they had a Denso navigation system and it sucked for $1725. The C7 Nav is a better unit and they include PDR for the same price as the C6 Nav.

if he is a local low volume dealer....you are a smart man get the answer that you are looking for. I can tell you with a fair amount of certainty once they start delivering the 2015's there will be at least one thread a day with " my dealer promised I would be in production by now but says it is all GM's fault.." These are special times for the corvette with unprecedented popularity the rules are different...get your answer..then look up a forum vendor and get what you want for less and quicker...or...not.

This is just one of the most stupid things GM has done. Most of use don't give a crap about PDR. I usually just use my phone anyway in my SUV. It's easier and more accurate but I like having the large display. Wonder if 3LT price will increase accordingly since it includes NAV.
