The 220 everyone is reading is really 200, the actual 220 mark is directly to the right of the 220 lettering.
Correct.
There are many threads regarding this temperature gauge. I thought the same but after further analysis, I realized the gauge label "220" is misleading. The hash mark to the right of the "0" is 220. The needle really is pointing closest to the 210 hash line.
I don't have this display in the "Perf" section. My first display is showing the RPM's only, with a very small corvette symbol located in the 12 o'clock position. Anybody else not have this display? My vin is 1764 delivered Oct 2013

Under SETTINGS, you need to have the display set to Tour in order to see that screen under PERF
If you were right, 260 would occur 2 marks below where it does and the 260 mark would actually be 300
Obviously the graduation changes as one moves up....
You're right... the graduation lines change to only 5 degree increase in temperature after the 220 line instead of 10 degree increase in Temperature for every line
And notice the lines are spaced further apart after the 220 line.
The 5 degree change makes the top line in Red being correct at 260.
just hit your left arrow and on the left the display opts 'will come up then down key and pick opt. then hit select .i have mine set to display to the right all the time . temp, oil, bat, tires ........
or while you have car running hit the down arrow on the s. wheel to get each opt. tire , timer , oil , temp.mi., etc. lots of goodies will come up in the center display then just go back up to get out . you will get it

You must have Tour selected as the Display Mode under SETTINGS before you'll see that screen

Agreed, I am in the 220 camp also. GM has long used the middle calibration number as the demarcation line where the degrees per tic mark changes. Unfortunately the temperature gauge has been getting less useful for years as both calibration and movement with temperature change have suffered. My 2006 GMC Sierra diesel is the newest vehicle I have owned where the gauges are responsive and track with the actual measurements from the data bus. Sustained hard acceleration results in a slight but noticeable temperature display increase and the oil pressure and transmission temperature gauges also are active and fairly accurate.
I guess the designers feel the gauge wasn't that important since the C7 Z06 photos show a manifold pressure gauge where the temperature gauge lives in the non-Z06.

The whole thing is meaningless anyway. Can you see the digital reading at 181 when the "Gauge" shows 220????? There's headroom above actual operating temps too... The gauge is worthless for measuring real temps..

2 different readings
Who really knows.. maybe the gauge is right and the digital is wrong
It's 1992 all over again with the inaccurate analog engine temperature gauge. I like to know my coolant temperature all the time. Coolant leaks are the worst thing that can happen with any kind of driving.

Seems a trend among many manufacturers. My recent VW's show 190 on the gauge when the actual temps vary between 160 and 215. A Miata's Oil pressure "Gauge" is nothing more than an idiot light with a gauge face. Yes or no, nothing in between.
With customers whining a lot more in general these days, a smoothed gauge keeps them happy, oblivious and out of the service dept.
In 2009 when the 370Z came out, nissan made a huge mistake by installing an accurate oil temp gauge. The car's nature was to run hot due to the micky mouse valve train. Lots of hand wringing and complaints over what people "Thought" healthy oil temps should be.
Damned if you do, damned if you don't.

I usually watch my tire PSI's in the DIC.
But today I watched both the Digital Temperature reading and the Temperature Gauge while driving around for a few hours.
Both read the same all the time, 09 Coupe.
Only variation I saw was when I parked the car for a while and starting back up again.
There was about 7 degrees difference between the 2 readings for about a minute.
Then, they both came back to the same reading from then on
Designer Imagines A Corvette That Looks More Like a Corvette Than the Corvette
