Default Performance Exhaust Question

So forgive me as I'm not that mechanical and don't understand how everything works on cars.

I have the Dual mode exhaust and have some questions on it and keep in mine I have it set to be open all the time.

1) seem to get black on the two outer pipes and not the middle. Is that normal
2) Do the middle ones only open up at higher RPMS? In 4th gear and 35-40mph it's very quiet and I'm thinking it's because the RPMS are very low.

If someone could let me know how this system works so I understand it I would really appreciate it.

Just want to make sure it's working properly.

Thanks...Bill

Sounds like all is well with your system, it's behaving normally.

This comes up about once a week. The valves are on the outer tips. Inner pipes are perforated so there's always exhaust out through the inside tips...Moreso (100%) when the valves are closed.

if you look up thoe 2 outer pipes, you will notice a couple of valves.

they open up about 1700 rpm, which is why the car is relatively quiet at low speed/low rpm ranges.
