Small dealers can get cars pretty quickly. However, if they aren't honest with you about the allocation process you may order and never get a car. When I ordered my 97 our local dealer told me at first that he wouldn't get any 97s and suggested I go to another dealer 70 miles away. A few months later when the cars were in the showrooms I heard through the grapevine that he was getting one allocation. I walked into the showroom and asked the first salesman I saw whether they were getting any new Vettes. He said, one. I asked when they could get it and he thought it was almost right away but would have to check with the owner. He came back a few minutes later and said the owner was pretty sure I would get the car in less than 8 weeks and I said I want to order it. I already knew the price was MSRP which was a good deal at the time. 8 weeks later I had the car.

you don't get to 2000 without an allocation.
