I placed my deposit on a 2015 this week. Now that the 2015's are in production, how long should it normally take before my dealer is able to place the order and give me a status code or tracking number that I can track online.
He should be able to give you your order number immediately assuming they entered the order. However, some dealers do not enter orders until they know they have an allocation to assign it to.
Do a search for "allocation" and make sure you understand that process. Depending on who the dealer is (local, small dealer vs large corvette dealer), it could be 6 weeks, 6 months, or never happen.
It was a local dealer. i hope I don't regret not using a larger national dealer. I have given them until the end of next week for them to give me an order number. Thanks again guys.

They should be able to give you an order number today. Having an order number means nothing. Ask them how many allocations they will get for 2015. If they won't tell you, be very concerned. Does your order have any constrained items? If yes, the chances with a low Corvette volume local dealer are not good.
Today I also ordered a 2015. I will get it quicker since I ordered the Vette with no constraints. The biggest constraint is the Z51. That means I bought a lowly Shark Grey 2LT with options A8, chrome wheels, and a Stinger hood decal plus a red interior. This is a nice upgrade from the 07 1LT I have now. The Dealer is selling me a transparent roof at cost, $750, because the Dual roof option (plain painted plus transparent) is a constraint. That made no sense. By the way, there are no prices on the 2015 yet. I priced it like a 2014 but add the car price increase plus an extra grand or two for price increases on parts.

PM me if you need any help will put you in touch with a dealer who will get you a car unless this dealer is offering some kind of deal.
If you don't mind me asking you. Are you purchasing the car at full MSRP, higher, or lower than that? The reason I ask is because you have various options with the larger dealers. They will pretty much guarantee that you will get your car than not get it at all like a local dealer that may or may not have any allocation.

Coastal Chevrolet in Savannah, Ga.
They price matched a much larger dealer for less than MSRP. Just having second thoughts about their ability to get it done. Like I said earlier, they've got on week and if no progress, I'm going to one of larger dealers.
OK, I'm confused. I thought a dealer couldn't place an order, and get an order number unless they had an allocation. My dealer told me I got their first 2015 allocation (they sold > 20 Corvettes last year), and I have an order number that I can track in the Chevy order tracking system, which says order placed. So what am I missing? Thanks!

You're their first order and they sold more than twenty 2014's? Then you should be good, unless you have constraint items and others behind you don't have any on their orders. It's just a matter of when your order gets picked up by GM (order status code 2000).

The only constraint item on my car is the standard roof. I guess should check if there is a FAQ for the allocation / order process. If there isn't one, there should be.
To the OP. I would really consider one of the big forum dealers. I did not. I wanted to stay local. To make the story short, my order has taken longer and I got hit with a thousand dealer price increase because they ordered the car as retail stock instead of sold. Would not have happened with a forum dealer. Either way, good luck.

You're mistaken. A dealer can place an order without an allocation. Your order will sit at status 1100 until they assign your order to an actual allocation. At that time you will move to 2000 and then advance fairly quickly from there. Until you get assigned to an allocation, you basically have nothing.
About pricing, I was at the Dealership Friday and they had no official GM pricing. What the Dealership could tell me (with a GM Rep. on conference phone) was every constraint. The GM Rep. gave use the GM cost of the transparent roof and the GM cost of the Splash Guards installed. I saved a little on both. Keep your constraints low if you want you new 2015 quick.

I thought there was a 0% constraint on Chrome wheels

Ah. I will have to take them at their word that I got their first 2015 allocation and hope for the best. Thanks.
Chrome wheels, option QX3, is not on constraint from what I was told. Dealership told me I would have my car delivered 2 weeks before Halloween. I'll believe it when it comes.
I was also working with small local dealer with 3 allocations. Someone got the first one over me and they are waiting for another allocation before placing an order for me. This has been going on since 2015 orders started. I'm now working with a large forum dealer and it seems they can get an order in within a couple of weeks. The small dealer indicated that the allocation has to be for a Z51 car as well,(that's what I want). Sounds kinda strange to me.
