I have read through the threads and see that Range V8 will disable AFM; their product looks to be pretty new. Any forum members have this installed and does it work well or have you experienced issues? I am interested but concerned about CEL and other assorted issues. Thanks.
it works well - plug it in and nothing changes except you are always in v8 mode...unplug it and the dealer cannot tell it was even there...owned two of them...

You can also disable electronically with the Diablo Intune...
Get a tune program too for only a few bucks more. No issues at all with this technique..
Well...There might be a few reasons... Most of the Normal use of my car is around town with some blasts out into the country. Since the A6 drops into V4 mode pretty easily in all modes, disabling it gives you a bit more smoothness and response when it is not really needed for economy purtposes. If I had a manual I wouldn't bother with a disable. I did activate it though for my Trip to Bowling Green and back this past week (1500 miles) and it returned a 29 MPG overall for the trip. On the road, when it becomes a little annoying, I just drop into "M" mode.

I forgot the auto did that. I was thinking of it from a manual point of view.

Yes, well stated. Also when it drops into V4, the nice NPP sound goes away. Annoying at slow speeds when I am enjoying the sound of my nice V8.

My initial thoughts were to disable it, but after living with my new Stingray for a month and have 750 miles under my belt I must admit I really don't pay anymore attention to AFM and I have an A6 w/NPP.
For a while I kept the display set to monitor fuel mileage and AFM, but now I monitor other systems in the car and ignore AFM.
So for now I'm just driving my Stingray as it came from the factory and loving it.

Yes i may very well end up thinking the same. I have only had mine for 3 weeks/560 miles so I am not quite there yet. Just exploring options for now. We are still early in the C7 lifecycle, and if the demand is really there, there will be competitive products in this space at a competitive price.
I have had mine for a month , an automatic, 2k miles on it now, a few trips on the hiway, lots of mileage around town. I haven't even noticed it going back and forth from 8 to 4 or the other way around. It works very nicely it seems. With a couple of my trips I have been in the 30/32 mpg (U.S gallon) range. Not bad for a car capable of 460 HP.
Yesterday I drove from Bowling Green to Lancaster Pa. This was not on the flat but through the mountains of West Virginia and western Maryland. The speed comes from hours of 75 MPH not running over that. This was an eleven hour trip. I love my Corvette performance..speed plus good economy...

Do you have NPP exhaust? That is what makes it especially noticeable at slow speeds. When it goes into V4 the nice throaty sound shuts down.
I'd have to say after driving with it for a while (I bought mine early spring) it does have a few drawbacks. First is the battery drain, it'll suck the life out of a battery in a week or two if left plugged in & you don't put on the battery tender. Second thing is & I didn't count on this, GM must have factored in the V4/V8 modes when calculating cooling capacity, cabin insulation, etc. b/c in the summer in rush hour traffic it'll feel like the 9th level of hell it'll be so hot inside & out of your C7! Noticeably hotter with it constantly in V8 mode.
If you can manage both of those issues then you'll have no problems & it works flawlessly for me, no DTC or issues related. Oh & oddly enough you gas mileage doesn't seem to drop hardly....

Wormwood
I have no idea where you get this, you might want to have your car checked, many here are getting great starts after 3-4 weeks of sitting with no tender, one post reports past a month. I read a bunch of prev gen owners that say thAT but they are guessing it happens on the c7...IT DOES NOT.

something must be sucking juice..mine will go a month. That is as long as I leave it without putting the "Tender" on.

I think what wormwood is saying is that the RangeV8 is the cause of battery drain and excess heat. I could possibly see the battery drain part, but as far as the heat goes, the M7 is in V8 mode all the time and doesn't seem to have an issue with heat. Odd that an A6 would.
