Default Hypothetical Question

Would any of you still consider beefing up your Horse power with a Supercharger now that the Z06 price has come out. I mean especially spending almost 20K on a Callaway upgrade?

I'm planning on adding a supercharger to mine eventually.

I have LTs and a ProCharger in my basement that I purchased for my 14' that I never got to install.

I have a deposit on a Z06 but I would more than likely want a Convertible and the 8 speed which would mean that the car would more than likely not arrive until summer time.
With that said, I think I'm just going to wait until the offer supplier pricing on the Z06 and just drive a Supercharged Z51 C7 until next fall.

I would think it's silly to spend $20k on kit when you can just get a Z06 that is superior in every way, that is unless you want to be different.

Obviously depends on the price. If I could boost my power to 625+ hp for $7K, reliably then yes. but if it were $10K or more then I would just trade in my C7 Z51 for a new Z06 eventually because for $18K more I get the boosted power and warranty and widebody. For the price of the Calloway I definitely say no since it doesn't include a widebody and wider tires and wheels.

Those Callaway cars seem to really stand out and hold value. Might be a good decision if you already have a 14 because of the trade in loss.

I'll be adding one to mine next year. Want to wait a full year to make sure all the gremlins are worked out before I go all out and start voiding my warranty! After that year is up...I'll feel better...and ready to turn up the HP.

Thank you for mentioning Callaway and our SC Package. You are right, as we've been fielding calls since the Z06 announced, from owners just like you, asking the very same questions.

Our Supercharger package starts at $17,995 and is converted at our Connecticut or California locations. A list of standard features, and optional equipment can be found at this link:

http://www.callawaycars.com/cars/callaway-c20-corvette/

Callaway, building powerfully engineered Corvettes for over 27 years, builds the most powerful, reliable, drivable, and emissions compliant vehicles. We also back them by the only powertrain warranty in the business worth more than the paper it's written upon. We are peerless in the industry, and proud of what we deliver!

We've engineered our new supercharger with features such as the superior inter cooling design and long runners. Check out the attached data sheets for specifics -

Please look over the link above and let me know if I can asset with any questions.

Thank you -

I still plan on installing a S/C on my '14 Z51. You can pull a lot more HP than the Z06 and hide in plain sight as a sleeper. Most tunes with a S/C and LT's will get you nearly 700 HP at the rear wheel and the Z06 isn't even close. I have a loaded 3LT purchased before all of the price increases (plus bought below MSRP) and a comparable Z06 would be around $90,000. Won't need to spend but, $15,000 to get there so still a better deal except for my rear tires.

Take a look at what a manufacturer puts into engine changes to produce higher output with reliability they can warranty. It goes far beyond slapping a forced induction system on the car. The z06 is a bargain when you look at those changes. In the end I would bet that you come out far ahead cost wise when resale is factored in by getting a Z06.

Callaway Cars, as an engineering company and small volume manufacturer, builds powerful, reliable, drivable - and emissions complaint vehicles, backed by the most powerful Powertrain warranty in the business.

We don't know what others do when they slap a supercharger on a vehicle, but that's not our business model. To witness, our 2010 Callaway SC606 Corvette Grand Sport w/ over 197,000 miles, without issue. It's an engineered package, not a tuner special.

As the same package on the car being considered, it's a relevant data point. I hope this helps

It is a tough question. I bought my '14 Z51 before any price increases and thought a centri blower for about 6-7K installed would be magic. Then read an article on the development of the LT4, and got some doubts. For the 10-15K you would save between a S/C LT1, and just moving up to a LT4, if the motor blows you are screwed.

I am going to restrain my Mod personality and enjoy the Z51 for a year or two. Need some miles on these cars to tell the whole story...
