Ordering a torch red convertible. Don't care for the black wheels. Should I go with the painted aluminum or chrome?

Here is how I would do it--first- ask yourself which one you like better or are leaning towards and second-order that one. I personally would go with the painted aluminum.

Ordered my TR with chrome. The black wheels look okay but I prefer the Bright Chrome Wheels to bring out the WOW factor.

I like the painted wheels better myself, because if they do get damaged they can be repaired and they don't rust like the chrome wheels will if you drive in bad weather.

If it were me, I'd go with the painted wheels. Paying $2K for the chrome ones seems a bit high to me.

The standard silver painted wheels look very good, IMO, not worth $2K extra for chromes [I had them on my previous C6].
If you get an opportunity, try to find both at a dealer[s] and judge for yourself.

Just my opinion, but I think that the chrome looks very dated. But CorgiDog is right. Go with your gut and that will be the right answer.

Here's what I did. I ordered the painted wheels then did a Chrome wheel exchange (these are GM painted wheels that are stripped and chrome plated better than the stock chromies) and save yourself $1100.00. There's a couple of forum sponsors that do this. BTW I did the same thing when I got my 99 C5 and later when I got my 06 C6. It's worth it!

You should go with the ones that you like better. I'm not quite sure how anyone else can know what your personal preference is or why you'd care about anyone else's personal preference. I prefer (and therefore ordered) the painted silver wheels but that shouldn't be a factor in your decision.

Personally, I like chrome.

But rust isn't a factor.. They're still aluminum wheels ..

Don't like black, and chrome looks too flashy for sports car... I went with painted silver (probably a carry over from my 2004 Z06 with painted wheels)

Ordered my Torch Red with black wheels. After 3 months, I realized black wheels were not for me, so I sold them on this forum and purchased silver painted wheels from a fellow forum member. I'm very happy with the result and I do prefer the silver painted wheels to the chrome.

I think you have it !!

I went with silver, chrome is becoming dated. Do you see any high end Ferrari's, Lambo's , BMW, Audi, etc. coming out of the factory with chrome anymore. Nope, why not, no demand for that look. Today I would say black is the new chrome for the younger generation. Now I have the silver I like them, they seem part of the car, fit the look, they don't stick out the way I find chrome can like an add on (which when they first came out they were , remember Cragar chromes) but to each their own.
