Doesn't surpise me that members here in this section have their butt all hurt. I'd say most didn't own a C6 Z06 prior therefore, they are not informed of GMs lack or slack when it comes to engine reliability. For a car this new with this many failures reported on just this forum, does make for a concern when it comes to something new as the LT1.
More than 35K C7's sold and fewer than 10 engine failures reported. The math isn't that difficult..
Actually, based on the above numbers, the failure rate is less than .03% (0.028571428571428574 to be exact)
You and everyone quoting these 35-40k build/10 failures are missing one key thing. We have 10 cases of people in the FORUM. So take the number of registered people here who own a C7 and use that as a base line not the 35-40k number.
You have to understand, a good number of Corvette owners are old (I mean absolutely no disrespect here) and may not know much about forums or this particular forum.

Apples to apples guys....
My biggest concern is not the failure rate, but the mileage on these cars. Forget about missed oil changes. I bet most of them were not even due for their first oil change. If this many are failing within one year, how many will fail within 5 years? What will they be worth after the warranty period ends?
I am concerned because I do not remember hearing about anything like this when the C6 was introduced. I was not on the forum when the C5 was introduced.
If you are not concerned, just drive your car. You have a warranty anyway, unless you have modified the car. One of the guys I work with had his C7 engine blow up on the dyno, and the car was 2 weeks old. Too bad his mods had voided the warranty. I wonder if it would have blown up anyway.

Yet you're on the other side of things and assume widespread problems without figures of your own

PS I whipped out my check book and wrote one check for my C7. Did you do that ? I own an Ipad2 and an IpadAir and I could go on. My friends have similar backgrounds. When you have more EXPERIENCE than others you do not flaunt it. You use it.

I am sorry jsdanehy but DerStig is right in this comment in my opinion. The Corvette is an expensive car that most people cannot afford until they reach a certain point in their life, which usually comes later in life for most. I feel he was clear in saying that he meant no disrespect and frankly you are out of line calling him a JERK and YOUNG and unwise. I feel that you going on here saying this makes you seem arrogant and unwise. Who cares what you have bought or have or how many years old you are that you add up with your fingers. For someone nearing 80, you seem like the one that needs to grow up man..
This is a corvette fanboy site......... I get it. But for every one guy on the forum, there are probably 100 who aint.
When it comes to problems, I said the same stuff. You guys are crybabies who worry to much..... Then it happened to my car......... I became less of a fanboy and more of a realist.
It really sucks when its YOUR car that blows up.......... Cut these guys some slack, they are upset. Just as I was.
And guess what, It could be your turn next.

All that age, education and money...yet still don't know how to properly quote someone on a forum... LMMFAO
It's a fitting end to this thread, right?
Given the way this forum has descended to 4Chan levels of civility, seems like the best course of action is just to leave the forum and come back in a year. After the hype dies down, maybe the car flavor of the month people move to the next car and ruin their forum instead.

Unfortunately, I think you may be right. I've been chastised for sharing information from the Corvette Corral from members that I don't believe even know what that is. I'm taken back as to what is going on here.

OK, since it seems quite a few people can't follow forum rules and avoid personal attacks and the general deterioration of this thread, it is now closed. I encourage the OP to start a new thread with the final outcome.
