Default 2014 potential fuel leak issue

I know noone really likes the "It made a strange noise! everyone panic!" type messages, but...

I just got a BOLO call from my dealers service department.

Said they are now working on the 4th 2014 with a cracked/leaking left side fuel tank. PITA expensive fix, as the trans has to come out to fix it.

Symptoms are guage not reading correctly, fuel smell, and spots on the ground at the parking location.

I asked about a SN range, but they could not tell me off the top of their head, only that the one that came in this morning has about 2800 mi, and its the 4th one with the same problem.

No further info at this time.

Really need a VIN or the link to the information. This is unsettling and not something I want to have and not be aware of.

I haven't taken mine in for service yet. I've got about 2600 on mine, so not time for the first freebie oil change.

I have noted the fuel filler pipe seems "floppy" to me, and it is on my list of things I want them to look at. Taking that into consideration, I wonder if the crack is near where the filler pipe attaches to the tank. Didn't ask that question. Just asked for the VIN range.

But I'm waiting on them to finish up with my C5 before I drop off the C7.

Will try calling back later this afternoon - they should be able to tell me more about it then.

09-16 update: all 4 were cracked about where the fuel filler hose joins the tank.
(at least) the latest one in was not bought at the servicing dealer.

I wonder if it is caused by the gas pump hose putting too much pressure on the fill tube? I make a point to always hold the nozzle and not let it just hang on the filler tube, but a lot of people probably don't do that.
It should be able to support the weight of the nozzle and hose, but that does not mean it can.

I'm assuming all C7 filler necks flex like mine does? I never gave it much thought. I wonder if this dealer sees that and thinks something is broken and replaces the tank?

Does this qualify as trolling? I mean, only four cars out of maybe 10 or 20 they have sold? What's the worst that can happen? A car burns to the ground while it's in your attached garage. You have insurance, right?

I love and trust COSTCO gas but a brand new one opened near me. I've never had a problem at any pump filling either of my cars but the new station has removed the vapor catching cups from around the nozzles. Both of my cars have had the described filling issue at three different pumps there. I remarked about it to the attendant and he explained they removed them (didn't install them) because almost all cars now have the recovery system built in and they weren't needed. He acknowledged there were others that had the same issue. I don't think anything is wrong with the C7's gas tank (at least mine). I've gone back and held the nozzle further in and got it completely full on one try. Just got to learn how to work with the new pumps I guess.

My dad is the head service writer at the dealership (located in SE Virginia); he called me after hours to give me a heads up/BOLO for this issue on my '14.

Because it is a disturbing "trend", both the vette team service writer and the dedicated vette mechanic mentioned it to him, he passed the BOLO to me, and I elected to pass what info I knew to the group here.

At this time, the sum total of what I know is:
all 4 tanks are cracked in the same place
(at least) one of the 4 was not bought at that dealership
I don't have VIN ranges or mileage.

Dealerships do have customer privacy policies, and to provide (even partial) serial numbers to a 3rd party may well violate those policies, so I have asked for, but have not pushed, to get that info.
