Mike I right now as we speak am going through warranty for the wind noise what they found out is it is the roof and the faster you go the more it opens the gasket and you hear it I thought i was hearing it from the windshield but it was the roof warped and the front edge dosnt seal the
gasket here is what to try as you drive pull hard down on the lever that locks your front driver roof handle and see if it subsides
I have it too and I'm pretty sure it's caused by the angle of the union of the door glass and the top at the rear of the window. Air isn't leaking through the window seal, its being packed into the corner. If the door glass was further out it would be an issue but that's not possible due to the way the roof attaches.
I seriously doubt it can be corrected and is simply the nature of the beast.
If someone wanted to test this theory they could fabricate a deflector that could mount in that area and prevent air from packing into that corner.

The dealer agreed that the noise was abnormal and had their body shop "realign" the driver door (whatever that means). The wind noise is now much diminished and only seems to be coming from the outside, where before it sounded like it was leaking through to the inside around the door and window seals. As a side-effect, the drivers door now requires a little more force to close (but not too much).

Thanks for the info I will relay this to my dealer when I take it in.
I understand the displeasure when dealing with wind noise concerns. While I realize you're seeking opinions from others, if you feel an official GM diagnosis is necessary, I'd be happy to communicate your sentiments with the Customer Experience Managers (CEM) at your preferred GM dealer. Please know that you're welcome to message us privately if you'd like to proceed, or if you simply want your experience(s) officially documented.

I just got a new 2016 C7 coupe with carbon fiber roof panel and am surprised with the amount of wind noise that I get from the rear space of the cockpit at speeds at or greater than 50mph. The roof panel seems to fit fine with no rattles or squeaks. I will check with a decible meter but i'm guessing close to 80 dbs. Is this normal?
I just picked up my car and drove it 3 miles turned around and went back to the dealer. There is a wind noise or more like a rush/hush of air in the interior. It is in the back cavity and starts at around 50MPH. It is not road noise. The dealer said that is normal I say BS. I am about to start to use some tape and tape off the rear hatch and see if that improves the sound level. This is not worthy of a car that runs you in excess of $110K.
Yes the dealer has the money and I have a car I am not happy with.
After 3000 miles and adding a sound barrier mat behind the seats, I believe that the noise is from the road and not wind. When I drive on new blacktop, the road noise reduction is remarkable.
And, this is a much bigger problem with coupes than with roadsters. The body panel behind the seats in a convertable block much of the tire noise.
There is little to no insulation under the carpet of a coupe and the shape of the "trunk" is like a megaphone blasting road noise to the occupants.
Can any member who has installed sound barrier insulation under the carpet provide us with feedback on how much this has helped?
I have this same problem. When I took it to the dealer he contacted corporate for a fix. Their response was to basically stuff in foam. GM knows of this issue but apparently has not come up with a elegant fix. My tech said I am not stuffing foam into a 70K car. GM needs to actually fix the issue.
Thanks guys, I will pull the carpet and install some DynaMat and see if this helps. I never drove the car before buying it so it is my problem now. I am sure I would have noticed this in a test drive.
I went on a road trip this past week and noticed wind noise the faster I went, the louder the noise. it definitely sounds like its coming from the roof area.
